Christmas Is on Its Way!!

The air has turned bitterly cold! It is only the beginning of it the way it sounds as the weather ahead looks even much colder as the week moves on! Winter has not even officially begun yet and I'm already wondering why we are waiting so long to visit Belize!...:) It does feel nice to be more relaxed this Christmas season as last year had us leaving for Belize a few days after Christmas and it was a bit distracting thinking about packing bags right over Christmas. We don't mind waiting awhile yet...:)

Pain... Dave has been dealing with more pain the last week then he has ever dwelt with in his life! A week ago as I type Ginger (the pony) was about to change the pace of Dave's life for awhile!

He broke some ribs. He says to never take a yawn, a hic-up, a sneeze, a cough or a good laugh for granted! He hurts so bad when he does any of these things!!! The one time he sneezed since this accident I thought he was going to pass out from the pain! Getting in and out of bed is probably the most painful part of Dave's day right now! He takes it ever so slowly as he tries his side then mine. He uses his legs as long as he can before falling onto his good side. Getting comfortable requires short shallow breaths and moments to just pause and breath before continuing to get into a comfortable position.

The hyperbaric chamber is getting full use this week and Dave spends two hours most mornings in there. I put him in about 3:45AM so he is out by 6:00 to go to work. No he has not missed a beat at going to work. He was there all week at his normal (even over this week) times. He says "If its gonna hurt anyway then I might as well keep working!" Me... I had stayed in bed all week guarantee! The pain I see him in is so hard to watch! I have even been helping him put his shoes on!

Once he is up out of bed or his chair he looks okay. (other then being more slow to move). We are so THANKFUL to be seeing improvement the past few days though and he can now give a 3/4 of a yawn...:) He is horrified if he feels the urge to sneeze though! I think he will soon be back to normal and he feels that his foot has really healed over this time! Probably because he had to slow down...:) Last Sunday morning we ran together again. He was able to run longer and it didn't hurt as bad... Well Sunday night was his next mishap...!

Ginger.... He is fine. He was missing until Tuesday. (Don't know where he was hiding out!) The neighbor boy caught up to him about a mile from home. He didn't want to come home with me when I ran over across Route 30 on Wednesday morning after the kids got on the bus to lead him home. He wanted friends I could tell...:) The boy that caught him would love to have him and when I mentioned keeping him for us over the winter (with us having to carry water because of it freezing and with going to Belize) he was thrilled with the idea!! I plan to lead Ginger back to that place tomorrow morning where he will spend the winter in a warm barn with friends...:) Jenika can visit him when ever she wants and we can get him back in the Spring...:) It's a win win.

Some Christmas shopping is done but more needs done yet. I have a day of shopping planned this week with my mom and sisters and I hope to finish up then!

The Stoltzfus Structures Christmas party was Friday night. It was cold and blustery but we were pretty cozy inside the King barn where the banquet was held. The food was catered and so amazing! M&S catering is hard to beat!! The corn hole tournaments were the entertainment for the night and they went so late that I brought the tired school children home before the party was even over!

The school Christmas program took place last week. Linville Hill School students again did a wonderful job doing there parts in the program and also "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Play"! The crowd was huge and Dave could only stand because of his pain. He hurt so bad that night! I think it would have been better if he had stayed home in bed but Jordan was a fireman and we had been hearing so much about this play he didn't want to miss out!

Jordan, Jenika and Javon looked so nice in the classy Christmas outfits they wore for the evening!... I just love to watch my kiddos up on the big stage!...:)

Basketball has started for Jordan. He plays basketball a few nights a week now which cuts into supper time but we make it work and it is only for a short time. He loves it!! It is so good for him to get those extra workouts during games and practice to!

Today was baptism at the church we have been attending. It was a different experience then we were used to at Spring Garden. It was more up close and personal and very touching. Three children were baptized and three adults. It was neat to be a part of the service today and hear each individual testimony. Every church has there own unique way of doing these types of services. Baptism day is always a special day no matter how it is done. We loved the way it took place today. After the service we had Pastor Leroy and Naomi here for lunch. We have so enjoyed getting to know this special couple in the past months.

Membership is still being prayed about but it feels nice to be attending the same church more often. After visiting different churches for a year we are convinced we are out of our comfortable box and on an interesting journey...:) God is good... All the time... God is good!

The snow flurries and bitter cold temps have us so thankful for a warm relaxing evening at home. We are thankful for a warm home to escape the coldness!! The chicken curry was heated and sipped for supper and we are doing nothing but being lazy...

Justin and Eva were at the Eagles game this afternoon and I had to shiver a few times just thinking about them trying to stay warm...:) It was Justin's birthday gift from Eva Jane and he was happy as ever to go! I envied him none!! It was a good football game to watch though as the score was close and the Eagles were actually leading a few times during the game.(unlike they have been lately!) Dave and I don't get into football and we never really watch it but we hear about it and if the game was a good one Dave will watch the highlights with the boys and act like he's all into it...:)

Yesterday was a fun Saturday in PJ's all day! We made lots of Christmas cookies and even some pretzel bark (upon request) for the Zook family party late this week. We do not eat the pretzel bark here anymore. It is great how your body will eventually get to the point that it lets you know what is worth it and what is not and we have discovered that this stuff is simply not worth it!...:) You can find the sinful recipe on my blog somewhere... I'll try to locate and share it with you just in case you want to give it a try to see what I mean about it being "worth it"...:)

Look who discovered my bird sanctuary!... Excuse me but I don't think so!!...:)

If you need a good dog for a Christmas gift contact me and I'll give you a good deal on a Cane Corso! She is friendly. Like people. Just hurry before my boys see this!!...:)

Sasha has been in the meadow with the chickens for a few weeks now because she was not staying here and chasing the deer on the neighbors property when they are trying to hunt had Dave over the top! She has her bed shredded and she is so bored down in the meadow! I couldn't stand it anymore so yesterday I left her out and kind of forgot about her. This morning when we left for church we seen her and Jonathan's dog down on the neighbors property! It was my bad for letting her out.

We were already a few minutes behind but Dave stopped the car on the driveway and insisted Jordan puts her in the meadow. We waited and she was taking long so I set my cereal on the dash and got out to help him holler her up. (she seems to listen on anybody better then Jordan!) She ran across the field to her box with me hot on her tail in my Sunday shoes! Dave thought it would be faster to take Jordan down to lock her up in the meadow so he took off sending my cereal flying off the dash and all over my seat! It seeped into the back on the floor! I got rags and lets just say we were late for church and Jordan and I had a "heated" dog conversation for a few minutes! I'm not sure why but I'm the least dog lover around and yet it seems like I'm the only one that ever deals with these dog issues around here!! Anyway I vote to sell her so my offer is good!...!!

Christmas is coming up so fast!! We hope to wrap the gifts this week!

Have a BLESSED week as you enjoy the Christmas season going on all around!! It is truly the best time of the year here!...
