The Autumn weather is so unique right now! The leaves are almost at the peak of there beauty and the temperatures have been so enjoyably warm!
The weeks are moving along so fast! The flowers are getting pulled out more and more each week, Dave and I were both in the fish ponds/waterfall this evening giving it the annual before winter clean up. The water was still warm enough that it didn't numb our bare feet...:)
The garden is still so much fun! We enjoy salads from the garden almost daily! The beets, radish, carrots, kale, spinach, collards, and other greens are thriving and so fun to eat fresh! This will soon be over so we enjoy it while it lasts!
Mondays here are always food prep days... I try to shop, chop and prep food on Mondays so the weeks lunches and suppers go better. This week was prep day but since the garden is still thriving we are doing "handy, grab and go" salads in a jar... Gather supplies...
Just be sure to put the salad dressing at the bottom of the jar then layer the veggies to the top. The hard crunchy veggies go on the bottom (think carrot, radish, celery, beets, cucumber) then top with the cheese, tender greens and nuts, seeds and so on... The options are endless and this has been so handy this week!!
I have been making pumpkin pies just often enough to give us a taste and they never last to long...:)
The school kiddos are enjoying a few days of no school! We all are actually! The teachers are still busy this week but the students get a bit of time off!
Yesterday we only had half day. Javon has been begging to have friends over after school for a sleepover for weeks now! When I heard that the weather was to be summer like with temps in the 80's I went ahead and planned an after half day hangout! He was thrilled to bring five friends home with him on the bus yesterday!
Jenika wanted a girl to be with to so she invited her school friend Dezi to come home with her. Jordan had plans with Colton after school (air soft party) so we were left without Jordan but we gained six other kiddos for the rest of the day!
They could hardly play fast enough to get everything in!!
It was tennis ball, corn hole, lunch, trampoline water fun, golf cart all over the property, pony rides, popcorn, drone flying, bike riding, ball tag in the basement, supper, campfire, I spy the old gray wolf in the dark and smores over the fire to finish the night off!! The Little's friends left here exhausted last evening!! The laughter I heard all afternoon was such a blast!!
They soaped the trampoline and wet it with the hose now and then and then they went sliding!! It looked like a blast! I walked after them most of the day just to keep them straight and safe and I went looking for them after handing them towels to dry off and when I heard noise coming from my bathroom I was like "What in the world!?" Here is what I found when I walked into my bathroom!! They were cold and they wanted warm water!... It was a sight to see for sure and it was so funny I grabbed my phone quick for a picture! I was glad to see they all had kept the shorts on at least...:)
Second graders at it's best right here...lol!
It was a day that wore me out but it felt nice to finally have Javon's friends here. He has a birthday close to Christmas and we are always so busy over that time so I figured this might be a good way to still have a party. He even got a box of Lego's! He has been enjoying them ever since!! Thanks Dante!
Kombucha bottle day was today... I have cut back some since the weather change has us drinking less. I still have so many starter cultures so if anybody wants to try making Kombucha I'll gladly pass some off to you!! We still love Kombucha! Research the benefits and give it a try!
My mom notices a difference in her blood pressure when she stops drinking this stuff!
So much information available on health these days... many have leaky gut issues that often gets ignored because it seems to overwhelming to deal with it. It is overwhelming... BUT with all the education available at fingertips now days I thought these quotes was pretty true and straight forward... It takes effort in the day we live in to make better food choices for our family. I love to see success stories of families that went from health issues to healthy just from diet change! It happens more and more and its great!!
Kath was here today and we canned soup. Vegetable soup got put into jars for Kath! I love when we have days like today where we can work and catch up on life all at the same time! It was great the the kids were off of school and they could entertain Alan and Kirsten! I'm struggling with my camera so I don't get it out as often as I used to. One day soon I hope to replace my lens.
Dave's foot is healing. He still limps but he feels improvement weekly and we are so thankful! He goes into the hyperbaric chamber a few times a week. Justin is not so faithful in the chamber right now since his work schedule is a bit more demanding. He is out of town for a few days on a job as I type. He is not getting headaches anymore and for this we are thankful!
Dave leaves for Dallas tomorrow. More education. Only a short full day trip this time but it will be a long day of flights and touring the Dallas market!
Jordan is back to hunting around the house!... I love to see him go out for his evening hunts...:) We are planning lots of our next weekends to be at the cabin but for now he hunts around here. He sees deer but often they come out just as it gets to dark to see them right. He mostly hears them and sees the outline as they enter the field to feed. He was busy today getting all the trail cameras up and working again...:) He is still the outdoors guy for sure!
His weekly infusions are still a bummer. We both hate doing them. Every Monday afternoon I have the supplies ready for hook up after school and I always feel so bad that I have to poke him with needles! We are both relieved when the supplies are packed up and its over for the week! BUT we are THANKFUL none the less!
I'm off to tuck my clan in for the night...
Enjoy the beauty of Autumn!! God is so Good!!
