So this Fall weather is seriously so perfect!
We have been busy with school and all things that go along with this season of life.
It keeps us hopping!
One day I know I will look back and wonder how in the world we did it....
The homework, the school lunches, (that we try to keep at least decently healthy) the appointments, the infusions, the hunting before dark has started, the many fun Real Estate deals that Dave has going on right now, the broken foot, the garden, the food preserving, the yard work is demanding attention as things slowly die and tell us that there season has come to a close and its time to toss them all, the house work that goes along with six busy people, the meals... it takes so much food around here it feels like a full time job just getting breakfast, lunch and supper to my crew!! Grocery shopping, food chopping, and preparation go on and on. The laundry piles high and if we have to we just dig through the piles to find that one favorite shirt... It really is a riot sometimes BUT I don't want to miss the FACT that these are all "Big Huge BLESSINGS" and a part of "Real Life"!!!!
We have this girl... She came into our lives only a short time ago but we loved her from the day we first met her. She is sweet with a fun loving personality.... She has overcome much and we know God will use her to his glory. This girl... she is Justin's girlfriend. Her name is Eva Jane. She makes him happy and they have a blast together! I wish I had gotten my camera out as it was getting dark last night and she and Justin were out back playing football with the Little's! Oh the racket (Justin creates! I told Dave at one point "That boy will never change!") and laughter was priceless!
Eva has her own room and bathroom in the corner of the house. The guest corner is slowly being called "Eva's Room"...:) Because she lives a few hours from us she spends most weekends here with us and we love having her around!
Eva lost her mother in an accident four years ago. She had three younger siblings at the time. She loved and talks highly of her mother. She tells me she wishes I could have met her because she knows we would have liked each other a lot! I can tell Eva was loved well by her mom!
This alone breaks my "mother heart" over and over again as I think of her growing up without her mom adoring her every stage and just being there to mentor her in life.
Her dad then got remarried to her moms cousin seven months after her mom passed away, she had two children of her own. She will never replace her mom and the whole process has been difficult for Eva. Two more babies then joined the family making them a family of ten. Eva loves her siblings so very much!
A little over a year ago Eva was in a horrific car accident. She was not given much chance for survival and they didn't think she would even live the life flight to Hershey Medical Center.
This girl.... She is a fighter and I know this is why she is still here.
Her legs were damaged and pushed up to give her internal injuries. Her liver was punctured and they were to concerned about internal injuries to deal with her legs right away. Eventually she pulled through it. She had some rods and screws put in to help hold it all together as it healed. She was on crutches about three months and has been on a fight for her health back ever since.
She realizes that she feels better when she watches her diet and her and Justin are good for each other when it comes to the healthier eating choices...:)
Eva had some of the screws in her leg bothering her. The Doctor scheduled surgery to remove these...!
We had planned that I was going to take her to Hershey from here early Monday morning. Her surgery took place at seven thirty in the morning. She was given an IV and then anesthesia.
We met up with dad, grandma and aunt at the hospital before surgery prep was started. Eva was not expecting them until later in the day but grandma said she couldn't leave her with her "boyfriends mom" all alone if they never even met her...:) Her grandma is so sweet...;) This is the grandma that cared for Eva after her accident. She moved in with her and she stays on top of her appointments to this day. (this is her mothers mother...:))
I stayed with Eva and her family until she was discharged then she went back home with them. This was a same day surgery. She was so very brave...
I had a hard time leaving her when I left the hospital but her grandma seemed like she was going to make sure that she takes care and watches for fevers...:)
Monday night she was snap chatting Justin and she wasn't feeling the best, he couldn't stand it and before we knew what was happening he was on his way to her house, two hours from here! He was back home again before midnight.
Yesterday morning as I was doing my morning work I scrambled into the guest room to clean it. The bed was occupied! Justin brought Eva home with him! He knew I was worrying about her and would have loved to have her here to recover so he thought he'd surprize me! I was happy to care for her but I still kind of left Justin have it for taking her from her family and on a road trip when she needed rest above all else!
The shop was closed yesterday for a Fasting and Prayer day among the Amish workers so Justin just hung out with Eva all day. They kept leaving to do small errands but Eva rested on the couch pretty much all day until she wanted fresh air last night and they played some low key football. They went to bed early since Justin was leaving at three this morning and after an animated movie, hot tea and ice on her ankle I thought she would rest well.
Today she is still here. Last night she unwrapped her bandages and though she is glad the screws are out and away from the nerve she still has pain. I put oils on her new bandage and as long as it doesn't get infected things should be fine and she hopes to go back to work this week yet.
I just want to keep her the whole week and make her rest but I'm not her boss and she seems used to grinding things out. Pain has become her new normal. Sitting for long periods of time is very difficult for Eva and she has to pop ibuprofen if she has to sit to long for any reason. (The plane ride to Florida a few weeks ago was a stretch for her)
Doctor Steve knows her story from us. I so hope to get her down to his practice someday. She has a crooked spine, a very weak hip and her one leg stands taller then the other one. Therapy is hard for Eva but it is a most important step on her healing journey and quality of life in her later years. I would love to see how Doc could help. Until she lives closer and is ready to dedicate to the demanding chiropractor schedule its not really an option but we strongly pray healing for this special girl that we are quickly learning to love...:)
I'm off to make breakfast and then the plants, flowers and garden will be getting attention today... The day is cool but still lovely!
This post was stretching... it is because I post "real life" that I posted it... And because we love having Eva in our lives and if she is going to be part of our lives she will make her way here on my blog one way or another...:) I figure what better way to introduce her then to share some of her "Real Life" story? It is more drastic then I like to admit but her personality is so unique and loving and she will overcome and be stronger then ever! It's not so impotant to us where she comes from... where she chooses to go from here is more the focus... God works in mysterious ways and we believe he is the very one that brought Eva and Justin into each others lives. For this reason alone we try not to question the tough stuff...:) For now we are enjoying sharing the LOVE in our home with her...
Have a BLESSED Wednesday!
