Fall is Here + Javon's Fall...
This was the most BEAUTIFUL first week of this Fall season 2019!!
We are still having summer like temperatures, pretty blue skies and bright starry nights!
The earth here in Lancaster is parched and very dry but I think its a better time of the year to be dry with the shorter days and cooler nights.
The yard needs no mowing and the weeds still don't grow...:) Somehow the flowers are still pretty.
The tower garden is thriving and healthy outdoors.
The indoor plants are still enjoying it outdoors as well. We are having an extended summer and you won't hear any complaints about it in this corner of ours..:)
Healthy greens are so much fun!
I stocked up on seeds for the winter while I can still find them. It is great to keep gardening after the cold sets in...:)
The running routes are still green and pretty!
Today Dave is in Dallas at 'Secrets Of Successful Syndication'. This is always a big event for him. He has done so much with syndication by now so he is pretty popular at this event! I'm so proud of him! I ask him for a picture and he sends me a selfie...lol! He is great like that!
He educates himself and he also speaks and does interviews to. He packed out his day I'm sure!
This is always a more busy travel time of year for Dave but his trips have gotten compact and shorter.
He flew out real early this morning. (he left the house soon after 2am) He will be back late tonight.
Today was our annual school sale day at Linville Hill!
Dave and I were both there yesterday helping with the set up. This is the first year in three years we are not on the sale committee so we were only there to support this time.
The plan was for me and the kids to be there bright and early this morning to run the 5k, have breakfast and support the sale committee at the all day auction event.
Javon and I headed out at six thirty to run the 5k! He bounced right out of bed at dawn! He was excited to run with his best friend Ty and I!
We registered. Pinned on our bib numbers and waited with the crowd to get started.
Just a few minutes before announcements were made Javon and Ty decided to run a warm up lap around the school house. John (Ty's dad) and I watched them go and we shrugged about where they were running to so close to the start time.
Javon took to the swing set as they were running past. He went "walking" down the slide. The early morning dew had it wet and his feet gave away. He came down hard hitting his head on the slide and his back on the ground! Ty wasn't sure if he was being serious about falling and being hurt because of the way he was moaning. Meanwhile John and I were wondering where they were. Soon Ty came around the corner of the school building and I was sure Javon was right behind him. Ty hesitated and turned back so John and I followed to see what the deal was.
Javon was on the ground moaning in pain! He had flipped over onto his stomach and was throwing up! He had bloody mucus coming out of his nose. He had trouble breathing.
John is fire chief and has many years of experience so I left him run with it. He didn't hesitate to call the ambulance when he saw him throwing up.
As we waited for the ambulance Javon's breathing was kind of short and fast and I could tell it hurt to breath. He was also so very pale in color! He complained of back pain.
Ty went running with the 5k crowd once he saw John and I were with Javon but he was still so concerned.
I ran to the car for my purse and jacket while someone else brought Javon towels and blanket. Rebecka (a staff member) laid her hand on Javon's head and prayed a sweet sweet prayer for him.
We waited on the ambulance. They were awesome and came quick but while we waited I couldn't help but think "if this was something life threatening this would seem like forever!!"
Javon and I never even started our 5k today... Poor boy! We need to invest in a large bubble for him to live in I guess...:)
I unpinned our bibs and laid them on the slide where he had hit his head. So fast a turn of events can happen...
Javon's first ever ambulance ride...
At the hospital they took us right back without hesitation. X-rays were taken... Concussion was a question but he never did black out.
He was hungry so I went for some food and he ate while we waited for his results.
My mom and dad came in to the hospital. Dad left for work from there and mom stayed and Uber'd home with us. I was so glad for her! My mom is so great like that!!
The X-ray showed a fractured rib. It was the eighth one on the back left side. Explains his back pain. We were sent home and we went back to school because that's where my car was. Javon wanted to stay so I left him there with my mom while I came home to get out of my running clothes and shower. We spent the afternoon at the school sale. He didn't participate in any of the physical stuff but it was so special to watch him with his friends!
We have a group of friends... These friends...
These friends are special and you don't even realize how special until something happens... Ruthie's twin boys... Damian and Cameron, Martha Rose's...Ty, Linda's... Derek all gathered up the prize tickets they had earned while playing the games and doing the activities and handed them to Javon without hesitation so he could get lots of prizes from the prize tables! How special!
Jenika earned prizes today to. She picked them for Javon! (a nerf gun and a Popsicle pool float)
He is BLESSED!
Tonight Javon is sore. He is in an Epsom Salt bath right now...:) I expect it will be even worse tomorrow but we still have so much to be thankful for today!
I don't think he would appreciate life inside a bubble so we move ahead bold and confident that this was just another weird mishap that just happened to happen to Javon...:)
The weekend looks restful after a busy week. We have so much to be thankful for!
