Labor Day Weekend Fun...

Today something about the air is feeling different!

I know what it is... It's September!

The days are now shorter.

Dave gets caught in the dark if he tries to fly his pharchute plane to long.

I get caught in the dark before I'm done outside for the day.

The kids were flying a kite and they were not near done with the fun when it suddenly got dark.

The road where we run looks different this week... Leaves are now falling..

Its the next season. It will feel even better to get a campfire burning!

This last weekend was a packed full one that I want to record on here...

Friday night we did a fundraiser run here on our property that was a success. It exceeded our expectations and what we thought was going to be 8-10 running teams turned out to be about 20!

The running crowd is always a fun one! We have created great friendships just by running. Dave and I ran with "Vella Springa" guys back before they were even really into running. We used to do ten mile Saturday morning runs and monthly full moon runs. We now have "running friends" because of getting out and running with groups.

Dave and I have a heart for widows in our community. We have some right here in our own neighborhood and Dave came up with an idea to do a run to raise funds for widows in our community.

Every runner paid one hundred dollars to run. Kids paid fifty.

The run started out at the pond and circled around the Twin Brook Property then back up to our property through trails that Dave and Javon had mowed/chopped and flagged up.

We gave each team a poster board to name and hang on the fence.

Along the route was a basket full of  "glow rings" and each time a runner came around the loop they picked up a glow ring to hang on the fence at their poster board...

The team with the most rings at the end of the three hour run was going to be the winner!
Some teams were "one man" and others did a two man team.

It was like a relay race.

One runner rested while the other guy on the team would run! Some guys did the 1.3 mile loop so fast!!

The competition was on...  The winner was getting "Ten Silver Eagles"... (From "The Real Asset Investor")...:)

Each Runner could nominate a widow or else put the entry money in the pot towards widows we already had on the nominated list.

The rings were piling up fast as the three hour run kicked off in daylight and ended at dark! After dark you could look across the trails and see all the flashlights and headlamps shining!

(Dave and I were a team but we only had three rings in the end!...:))

The teams ran from 7:30 to 10:30 PM!

We had a live singer and many brought family to cheer them on and watch and fill water bottles when they came around.

The sweat was rolling and every now and then you'd hear a splash as the off runner would jump in the pond to cool off quick before his turn came to run again!

Amos was a solo and he ended up running more thsn twenty four miles!

Javon and Bryant ran 16 loops! (the kids route was about half as long) They were so sweaty after each loop but they were so cute to watch as they cheered each other on! Dave did a few loops with each of them and they ran all the way until the end!

Javon is cooling down... He is such a good runner!

He is doing a 5k this coming weekend at Bird-in-Hand. He should be ready after this run on trails..:)

We had food and drinks all night long but after the run we got lots of pizza's delivered from Pizza Box! These were a big hit...

It got real late by the time the last runner left! I think it was past one o'clock by the time we got back in the house...:)

The last runners helped until the end with the clean up... again I say... this is a high quality group of friends and we cherish each friendship developed through running!

Thanks to everyone who helped out in anyway! Thanks for making it a success! Dave and I both made notes again on how we could do it better and I'm guessing we will probably be doing this event again!

The Ten Silver Eagles went to the Benuel Esh and Dave Petersheim team! They both did ten laps each! So many runners ran hard nonstop! I guess I was to tired at this point to get a picture of the winning team...:/

Early the next morning we were off for the beach!

Saturday-Monday were spent with friends at Rehoboth Beach by the Bay...

This was the perfect ending to a wonderful fun filled summer!!

We did tubing, clamming, crabbing, jet skiing. My birthday day was fun. (which was Saturday)

Great conversation on the boat!...

Forking around the bottom for clams...

Jenika and Aubrey are the only girls in the bunch of boys and they have so much fun together...:)

Lin hauling in the clams...

Uh-Oh the big kid is on the tube!! Look out kids!

Of course...(roll eye) lol! He cannot help it!

Oh My...:}

She loves speed!...

Oh My...

Oh Boy... Now what!?

We got pizza in for the kids and the adults enjoyed a nice dinner out at Baywoods Country Club...

Linford and Bernice...

My Love and I...

Gary and Tonya...

Sunday...

Crabbing...

We caught about thirty of these blue crabs on the line... It was an interesting process and fun for the kids to net the crabs off the line!

Cleaning the catch for a Sunday afternoon snack...

Dig in...

Prepare for a mess because its bound to be messy!...

Javon's first crab experience...:)

We lounged around in this lovely beach house when we were not out on the bay... It was great!

I loved the relaxed feeling! We were close to the beach and all the crowds of Labor Day Weekend people but back here at the bay we didn't even realize it was a busy vacation weekend at all! We waited until so late to go out to eat that we didn't even have to wait in restaurant lines either...:)

The kids had bike trails around this gated development and they did lots of biking...

He reads... Everywhere he goes. Everyday. He just reads. I love spending my time with this man...:)

Sunday afternoon and until dark the three guys took the jet skies out to the ocean.

We wives... We worried.

It was getting to dark and they were not coming back. None of them had phones.

The ocean was wild because of hurricane Dorian out at sea. The waves... They were very large!!
Dave stopped at the bridge and said to the other guys.. "Are we going out there?" (pointing towards the sea) They said YES WE ARE!

They had a BLAST riding those wild waves on those jet skies!

Dave told me..."Its a good thing you didn't come along.``gulp face``"

We were sure glad to see them return safely! They were grinning from the fun and Dave was near getting a blister from holding on to his throttle and his legs felt that bumpy ride for days after!

We headed out as couples at eight thirty at night for another nice dinner... We ladies had went out to bring back food for the kids so they were having down time when we headed out for our own dinner so late!
An ice cream stop at eleven o'clock at night only happens at the beach! It was fun! It was late by the time we got to bed!

Monday...

I did breakfast on this day.

The other two ladies did breakfast the other two days we were here and it was so fun and yummy to eat a big breakfast at the house before heading out...

Back on the Pontoon Boat at lunchtime we went for a few hours...

Dave took a jet ski...

Lyn did a wonderful job carting us around in this boat all weekend!

After the boat and all the toys were washed off and stowed away in the garage it was time for a few hours at the beach!

Javon had gotten thrown off the tube at the end of our boat ride and he is not much for the beach so he and I stayed back at the house and rested, packed up and biked until the rest of the crew returned.

We made an ice cream stop on the way home and by now it was evening and the busy Labor Day Weekend traffic had died off so we cruised right home. We all unloaded bags, left them to be unpacked until the next day and collapsed into bed!

It was a great "end of summer" weekend!!

Thanks to Lin and Bernice for hosting us at your lovely new beach house!! Thank you for the boat rides, the food, and all the fun laughs in between!!

Gary, Lin and Dave all have the same high D personality! It was so fun to listen to the conversation at times!!

Gary is owner operator of Twin Pine Auto Sales so we had a car guy. Lin is owner operator of Shady Maple Store and Smorgasbord so we had a food guy! Dave is owner operator of modular buildings and storage sheds so we had that mixed in! Telling hilarious customer stories and sharing the "ins and outs" of operating a business in Lancaster County sure made for some crazy conversation all weekend! They have so much in common yet still all very different!

We wives are all the same personality to! Its actually quite fascinating...:)

We heard the stories how each couple met and how they grew up... Getting to know these friends better on this Labor Day Weekend will be right up there with the "Highlights" of our summer!!

We are so BLESSED!

Here goes our SUMMER of 2019!!

ps. The big boys were missed this weekend. Justin played in the Dublin Ohio baseball tournament and did well! Jordan was home with all his different friends all weekend! I think he had fun with friends here at the house... who knows how many people he had here but he cleaned up well so we won't complain...:)

Welcome season of Autumn... Ready or not here it comes!

Summer is so great!! We will miss it.
