Summertime Busyness...:)
I was just about to head out for my run when the rain started so here I am instead...:) My computer is back and it's time I get on here more again! We have to much going on to be missing it all...:)
Jordan is the one enjoying his summer break the most! He is all over the property with his four wheeler all day long~! He tells me he smells the honeysuckles now as he zooms on the trails...:) His allergies are doing great this year, we don't even put the daily drops in his eyes like we have done summers in the past. I think it's the diet he is on but may be a few other reasons to..?
Clean up around here is endless, we have had the pressure washer and tractor busy this past week!... Seven years in our new home now and we all of the sudden see the need for more maintenance then before.
Some bushes right in front of the house decided not to come back after our hard winter. Right out front of all places! :) We pulled four or five out now. I'm not sure what we will put in there place but it looks so bare now... The brown dead leaves really looked odd beside all the lush green around them! This time of year is great! Everything is so fresh and so green! Birds are having babies all over our property! I counted six nests around here including a wren on my front door arrangement!...:) As long as Jenika don't find the nests they should be fine but a few momma birds have moved on to other places because she just couldn't stop peeking at them ALL day long!...:)
We had a "Southern Magnolia" planted out front, I don't think these things are made for our part of the country where our Winters are so cold. The thing looked like it had a disease on the leaves and dropped them all year round. We got rid of this thing last evening even though the pretty blooms were just starting to sprout. Dave was having trouble pulling it out with the tractor so he got out the chain saw and just sawed it off! He did the same thing with a dead pine we had, now I want to plant something else in those exact spots and we have the stumps and roots to deal with!... ~sigh~ I wasn't impressed but at least we don't have the dead brown trees anymore, I guess it will be him dealing with the replanting of something else...:)
The weather has been so lovely and my kiddos are ending the days with slight sunburnt shoulders! The pool is now the hot spot around here. They are in and out all day long and I love it! I think it's great to have a pool here because they swim until they get tired of it and then move on to other things, then they are soon swimming again...off and on all day long until dark! At the public pools they tend to get tired of just swimming all day long. It's fun to meet friends at the pools though so maybe we will get that done a few times to.
Having over a hundred people reunion planned to take place here is sure getting the corners clean up around here, some odd jobs are getting done that were on my lists ages ago. I love that we have something like this to get us motivated yet the timing seems a bit off at times. I feel way to busy for the start of summer break. I hope to slow down soon. Everyday I have a list of "To Do's" that is always way to long and never all gets accomplished. I take time with the kids in the morning as we start our day but once I'm started with my list they pretty much take care of themselves until evenings!...:} We color, read or play games in the mornings. I think this helps them to get started on a good note for the day and they love my full attention. Evenings we have been reading books around the campfire to. The evenings have been so warm and perfect for a back porch campfire.
Jenika is a READER!! We love it!! I do not remember my boys ever reading as much as she does at this age. She is often just sitting alone somewhere reading a book! For those that know her well wonder how she can be still long enough for this!?? She really is calmer then she was in her younger years! She is growing up so fast and is starting to be a great helper around the house. (even though most of her days are all day play time!)
I have pulled gluten from the Little's diets the past few days just to see if it makes a difference?? I also use almond milk instead of dairy and they don't even mind!...:) Not sure how long it will last since it takes a bit more dedication then I have time for right now but I'm going to try " Baby Stepping" towards less grains, corn and dairy for them.
The big boys on the other hand keep sighing and asking "What for book are you reading now!?"
I just laugh at them, they realize the importance of nutrition more then they like to admit...:)
Justin works hard at the shop everyday and he chows down the food! He feels better when he eats healthy although his desserts are still a "must have" for him! He loves the shop but he came home so tired last night. He said "I need a day a week off, I can't take this tiredness anymore"! He wakes early with Dave and works until four o'clock. He hangs garage doors, unloads prefab trailers and helps with chicken coops, he is also the runner that bikes to the post office and stuff. It is so good for him but he decided Thursdays will be his day off and he will most likely sleep until past ten this morning!! He also moved himself into the basement again since his room gets so warm in the summertime!
Jordan has a job to! He works on steel plates here in the garden garage. They have a machine type thingy that they invested in and it cranks out steel plates that are used for pole barns. They get orders and then crank em out, then they box and ship em off. It has Jordan out there early mornings where he spends a few hours...:)
Ashley met him a few mornings and helped to... I will get a picture of him and his set up one of these days...:)
I went to the weekly "Gluten Support Group" yesterday. We meet weekly and it's great to get with other ladies that deal with challenging kitchen days. It's great to exchange stories and ideas. Everybody has a different story and often a success story that came along with a diet change. We exchange recipes and show our favorite cookbooks and odd foods to each other. It took a few hours out of a busy schedule for me but it was worth it to take the time to go.
Jordan has forced me into food education and it is taking me places I never dreamt I would go. I like to educate myself but once I do it is so hard not to share it with others! I love that we mom's can educate and research and then share with each other. If you want to join us or know of somebody that wants to contact me...:)
I'm off to get this day started... Hopefully I can be blogging again more. I still have that muffin recipe I will share here soon... Jordan has a hard time stopping at one a day with these muffins!...:)
Added later...
I was able to get in a run after the rain... I ran to the shop to get Dave's truck, this will force him to run home...:) We do this every now and then just to break up the blocks around here, it's a great way to get us both out for an out of routine run. It was a perfect morning even though it was later then I like to head out. The air was cool and damp with the fresh smells of the new spring blossoms... It was a better run...:) Some are fast, some are slow, some are cold, some are hot... It's the fun thing about running. I run with the feeling. No pressure... We have a 5k in the area Saturday, we might run it... If we feel like it and if Dave joins me...:)
Wow my computer is so much faster! Not sure why I was putting up with all those virus issues for so long... Now I'm officially off to start this day!...:)
