We are so enjoying SUMMER!! It is flying by so fast but we are trying to capture each moment. Today is hazy hot and so humid! The humidity makes running hard and keeps us either indoors or splashing in water somewhere!
Yesterday we did sisters day at a local pool. The day was fun for the kids since they had cousins and lots of other kids to splash with them. Me... I'd rather see them swimming here in our own peaceful back yard where I can enjoy watching them all the while doing something productive..:) It is fun to sit at the pool side but I get tired of it way faster then I used to!..:) Having Mom and Sisters around me made fro a great day though! We enjoyed catching up with each other again!
Pool fun...
We ended the day last evening with a fun Father's Day Supper at Jonathan's! We went together and treated our parents to a fun meal under the pergola. Marilyn is great with creativity and the set up was lovely! The food was yummy! Jonathan grilled steaks and chicken and we both pitched in with desserts and sides to go with it... So much Fun! Happy Fathers Day to both my father and Dave's. Marilyn had her parents there and they really all enjoyed each other!
Thanks Jonathan and Marilyn for hosting this!! We might have to do this some more!!
As for our "June Staycation" I just want to freeze it...:) We are doing fun stuff inside and outside of the home...:) We are picking berries everyday. The kids pick off and on all day and they play themselves totally wore out by the time the sun is setting. It is then that Dave and I snatch the golf cart and go out on the trails ourselves..;) We have a route and now and then we pull off to pick some yummy berries to...:) It's the little things that are treasured and we are trying to do lots of those little things while we have the warm summer weather here!...
Justin got creative after he lost to many golf balls! He has a sheet over his back stop and he pounds it with balls as he practices his golf swings!...:)
Justin enjoys his evenings at home more then he used to! I'm so proud of how he handles getting up so early and working all day in this heat! He is tired but he feels productive and he does best under these circumstances...:) He is looking forward to the Romeo Ball Tournament coming up this weekend! We hope it cools down a bit for the ball games!...
Jordan had a fun fishing night out last week. Dave secretly bought this ticket at the box social as a surprise for Jordan since he loves fishing! It fit perfectly into our June schedule...:) He got to chose five people. He of course took Mark. Sam went to. Then he invited my cousin Linda's James and his dad to join them! The three boys had a blast!! I had no idea how long they would be fishing so when I was jolted awake by my phone past midnight I was a bit worried! It was Marilyn wondering where these guys were so long!?? I called Dave and he calmly answers with an "We are still Fishing!" I think they got off the water soon after one o'clock AM!! He was weary when he fell into bed around two AM! Jordan on the other hand could have fished all night and wouldn't have minded a bit!!...
They had some great catches and we now have a bit of catfish in the freezer!...
Jenika went to Dutch Wonderland with a few of her church girlfriends. Marta and Ashley took four girls to Dutch Wonderland and out to eat! She was out until really late the one night and came home happy yet exhausted! I think the milkshake then the roller coaster had her a bit frazzled..;) We found a stack of pictures in our church mailbox on Sunday to remember this fun outing! These girls had it together I'm telling you!! Thanks Marta and Ashley!! Jenika loved her evening out with you guys!!
Jordan's infusion last week was scary. We did it alone for the first time and we were both nervous. I had the shakes by the time he was hooked up. We had to clamp the one tube since it drew blood so we had to infuse the medicine into only two sites. This took longer plus made the two sites welt more. Plus the tissue wasn't enough since we went into his muscular outer thigh and the medicine was dripping out of the needle about the last ten minutes of infusion! He said "Mom, let's just get Colleen back again!" I said "No Jordan we can do this, it just takes more practice. The next time we will go into a spot with more grab...;) Poor Guy! Thanks for praying!
Running... It's hard. It's Hot. It is a pushing myself these days! Once I'm out it goes okay but every step feels hard right now! I'm still training in those shoes. Dave runs with me some days and some days I want to go alone. This morning he woke me up early and we ran together. We split ways at about mile three and I went on to finish with a seven while he ran the rest of the way to work...
Humid conditions even at five thirty this morning!... The berries are so much fun after the hard runs!...:)
We enjoyed an AMAZING lunch at Uncle Alvin's on Fathers Day!! We bought this ticket at the box social and it was so worth it!! We along with two other families enjoyed an afternoon and evening on Alvin's farm! The food was so yummy! Alvin and Ruth are the best hosts! The day was warm but we found shade under the tent and pavilion. We had king crab legs and steaks along with yummy sides and desserts and even icy drinks to chose from! Later on in the afternoons/evening they brought out homemade crepes. With fresh fruit and cream!! I better not say to much more because next year the tickets might run to high!! Thanks Uncle Alvin and Aunt Ruth for the fun day!!... The Little's enjoyed swimming and Jordan enjoyed fishing!! Justin joined us to! It was a great day for sure!!
As I went for pictures for this post I found most of them are phone pictures. This means we are on the go a lot and we snap from the phone these days!..:)
Sasha had to visit the surgeon this morning! She needs mouth surgery to remove a saliva glad that is clogged and causing her swollen face! Surgery is scheduled for Monday but it is so costly!! We could almost buy a new dog for the price of this surgery!! We are looking into another estimate but either way surgery in any form these days is not cheap!.. ~Oh Boy~ I was thankful that Dave found Jordan and Sasha a ride to the surgery center since it was far and I was out so much the past days! Finding a place for my Little's was something I was not in the mood for this morning already! Jordan was great with Sasha and her vet! The Doc called me to go over stuff and he was so impressed! He said he got more from Jordan then he does from many of his adult pet owners...:) They do love this dog but I'm not sure about this surgery!?
We are prepping up for Summer camp! It takes place soon! Jordan and Jenika will be going to camp this year! Jordan will have food challenges but we are trying to work ahead so we can store things in the camp refrigerator for his camp week. Breakfast muffins will hopefully be all he needs to start his day. He made some this morning. I figure these in a crock pot for a bit and some fresh fruit will hold him until lunch time. (we plan to work on his lunches tomorrow) Supplements are a huge part of Jordan's meals so we will need to organize this as well. He is used to doing all this stuff himself already so this will make things so much easier for camp week! I considered letting him eat like everybody else for the camp week but Dave left me know that this would not be a good idea at all!..:) Justin even made a comment like this "It's not like it's healthy food at camp so I think he better pack his food!" (They really put me in my place as we were discussing this on the way home from church on Sunday...:}) I sometimes just want normal for Jordan! I just want to forget food allergies at times! BUT we have come so far and we are thankful! I really want him to feel good during this fun week so we better stick to what works and just make the best of it!
July looks so fun with camp then vacations with our families. We have some getaways planned and even though it looks big and busy now we are looking forward to making many fun summer memories with those we love most! Family is a blessing and Dave and I are so blessed to be a part of loving families that care about each other!!
Dave's brother Matthew gave us a scare last week! He had been having some symptoms that he didn't like! He had swollen lymph's and an area at his groin that was sore and wouldn't heal. He said he wasn't feeling like himself for about two months. Doctor appointment sent then straight for tests as the Doctor thought it sounded like lymphoma cancer! Many people prayed for Matthew!! He was surrounded by youth and his church for earnest prayer for healing!! They played the waiting game as Roxy had only a little over a week before baby Z is due to arrive!! This was a hard wait yet they left it in God's hands knowing that he was all knowing and would not give them more then they could handle. Matthew got a phone call yesterday and the Doc said all test came back clear!! We are believing God has shown them a miracle!! How Awesome to get that news!! Now we wait for Baby Z to arrive and we rejoice with Matthew, Roxy, Angel and Sayily for healing husband/daddy!!
Life can change in a moment and we want to treasure the moments God gives us without any regrets. Life is a challenge. Days go by and I wonder what I did for God today? Have I made a difference today? Being a parent is one of life's biggest callings and at times I can beat myself up for not doing more for others outside of my own home yet when I do get out to much it can be a stress for us all and when mom is stressed the whole family feels it!....:) Time is our biggest asset yet we dare not take it from the children while they are in the most vulnerable years of there lives. They need our time just as much as those outside our homes! Balance is key and some days I struggle to find it but God gives grace and every day is a new day! I thought June would be a real party and I really wouldn't do much more then I had to but it turns out that I still have a lot to do and running a family with a huge house is just plain work no matter how you look at it. God has given it to me and I chose to take it as a gift and I want to be a good steward of it at the same time taking the time for the small treasures he has given! The little things can be enjoyed and appreciated even in the midst of chaos. I want to choose slow steps and notice my many blessings as I fulfill the calling of wife/motherhood.
I feel so blessed to be a stay at home mom!! It really is an honor to serve my family and still take the time to enjoy the fun things in life!!
We had a storm!! I was just about to hit publish when we lost power! We were out for about five hours! Thank you Lord for bringing it back! We are so handicap without it! Thanks to Amish Papa's we got showers there!! Now I'll hit publish...:) Good night!
