Today is a lovely fall day. It's cold and breezy. Colder then I like but still beautiful. It is quiet here today with all the kids off to school. Our week-end was relaxing yet busy.
Friday afternoon was perfect for being outside so I gave the yard a good going over. I can hardly get over the fact that we have no leaves even this time of the year! The grass is still lush and green! We have trees all around us yet none that really drop over us. The few trees we do have get the west wind that picks up the leaves and promptly blows them off! I'll take it!!
I was looking forward to more fun outdoor odd jobs on Saturday with the kids at home but was surprised to see a cold sideways rain come along with the daybreak on Saturday morning! It was a bit disappointing but we had a cozy day inside then.
At least for me it was cozy... after this run... I did sleep a bit longer but I had my mind set for a seven or eight miler on Friday already so I decided not to let the rain stop me...
After running in any kind of weather over the years it really is not that bad. After the first mile I'm warmed up and the rain actually felt good. I didn't feel like it when laying in bed listening to the wind whip the rain around but I knew the feeling it would bring in the end so I went for it. It wasn't long before I was glad I went. I had to keep my phone tucked under my arm to keep it dry but it was fine...:) Dave and Jordan were out hunting in the nasty weather so they came in wet and chilled after a wet morning hunt of seeing "not a tail".
Jordan is so faithfully hunting the property here! He has passed up a spike a few times and seen some other buck but didn't really get a good shot yet. He is counting down the days when we go to the cabin! We plan to go up soon for some archery hunting!
Saturday afternoon I replanted some plants, Brought some in from outside and now as Javon calls it... "Our very own Jungle!"...:) This has always been one of my favorite rooms in the house. I never had much luck with indoor plants but I'm giving it another shot this winter! I so miss the flowers this time of year so maybe this will help a bit...
Dave and Jordan did more evening hunting. Matthew and Roxy have Angel and Sayily for the week and the first place they wanted to go was "Jordan's house!" They spent the evening here with us. We played a game of dice and had some snack before they headed off. It was fun! Thanks for coming guys!
The breathtaking sunset after the clearing Saturday evening...
Going to bed Saturday night it felt nice knowing we will have an extra hour in the morning! The house was tidy and clean and it actually felt like I was caught after the house work for once!..:) (a good thing to since I had the shock of my life during church announcements then!)
Sunday morning we enjoyed our extra hour. Dave and I ran a few miles and had time to actually sit down and enjoy a healthy relaxing breakfast together before church...:) The kids were enjoying the slower pace to!
Sunday was Sunday School day. Sam had devotions on "The Parable of the Talents" In Matthew 25:14-30
My notes...
Stand up and make a difference! Are we hiding our talents? Wicked? Slothful? God gives only what is to our ability, not more then we can handle. (vs. 15)
Challenge... Make a difference! Find and USE the talents God has given us.
Hungry, Naked, in Prison. (vs. 37) If we are walking with Christ we do these things without even thinking about it. It just comes naturally.
On the day of judgment our account must be personal. It's not what our church did. It's not what our small group did. Not our mission but us personally. Let's be found faithful! Thanks Sam for throwing those challenges at us.
What am I doing with my talents? What are you doing with yours? We all have them! Let's not bury them. God will only give them to someone else that already has many others so he can accomplish his work. Let us do the part that he asks of us.
After church we always have announcements... Well today's youth announcement went like this..."Youth supper is at Dave and Suz Zook at six o'clock!" Pause... I look at Dave and he is looking at me! I stutter and say "What?" We don't have the youth!" Do we have the youth tonight!?? The youth leaders said yeah we have you down for it!! I said okay come around we will make something!!
All of the sudden I'm thinking about what will be for supper for forty-fifty people in a few short hours from now!! It took me a bit to process this but I calmed down pretty quick. We were then invited to host lunch! "Thanks Moshty and Kathryn!" At this point I relaxed knowing it will come together somehow! It was great to fellowship with the big "host lunch" crew! Jordan was extremely ready to go by the time we got out of there! He was so brave and didn't eat a bite until we got home! Surprise meals like this are still always hard for him!
We came home and as the guys watched the Eagles game I got food and paper products together. We did end up ordering pizza in and desserts came from the youth leader ladies. I made a salad and ran for drinks and a few other odds. It's not like it used to be here. I go shopping for the junk food when I'm preparing for a party... I no longer have it on hand in the house!...:) I know I'm a mess but it's hard enough cooking healthy for my family let alone for crowds like this and so last minute!...:) Pizza was a hit and we had plenty left to treat the shop crew today! (maybe even for a few days!) It all went to the shop!
I'm not sure what happened? It was all through texting back in August and the text was kind of left hanging. I guess I never made a note and one of us ladies should have called the other to confirm for sure! Oh well it was meant to be because if I had known it my week would have probably been way to crazy and this way it went smoothly...:) "Jordan said when we got home from church, I'm glad we didn't know it because we would have been having to get ready two weeks back already!"..;)
The youth crew was here until late last night. They had a blast playing games in the basement! I was glad for the extra hour of daylight again this morning! It made it seem later and the kids didn't seem to have trouble getting out of bed even though they got to bed way to late for a school night.
Jenika is being watched closely by us for Lyme's Disease. If you think about it pray for her. She had a bite on her back a few week back and it bothered her. I put oils on it right away and a few days later she developed a rash that went down her back. It was itchy though and looked a some what like poison so I didn't bother to much about it but I did make a note of it and decided I was going to watch her closely.
She started to seem extremely tired the past week! She complains often that her legs hurt. She can't seem to get enough of sleep and she is so pale looking! She seems so washed out by afternoons and even to weak to walk at times. Her moods are terrible. Javon misses his happy playmate! She whines about the smallest things and hardly ever wants to go outside! So not our Jenika! Tonight is going to be a chiropractor night but I also plan to make her a medical Doctor appointment this week if things get worse! We are pumping her immune system but if it's Lyme's it will need more then this. Poor girl is not herself!
This morning I dropped off the kiddos at school then took the van to Christiana garage and enjoyed the few mile walk home! It was cooler but I was bundled and it felt so good to get out in the morning air! (saving my running energy for a ten mile full moon run taking place in our area Wed night, Join us! Dave and I are not sure that we can still run ten miles!! It's been awhile!)
The days that Javon has school and I don't have much going on are rare so I enjoyed the quiet walk this morning!...:) I gathered my breakfast from the coop and garden after my long walk... Not sure what is with these chickens?? The size of the eggs in the coop are hilarious right now!...
As I was eating my breakfast sister Marilyn snuck in on me. She was here chatting to me for about an hour. She rides her horse over. She is on the saddle and I love to see her coming!..:) She shows up often right now for morning visits. Her life is quiet to with all her boys in school. Kath thinks we are in a totally different stage then her and she sometimes feels like she is in "left field" alone but it seems like those baby/preschooler days were just here for me! They go by so fast!! Enjoy your little ones Kath!!..:) Marilyn and I were talking teenager/youth stages...:) Oh Boy!! Both are fun stages!
PTC in all three schools within a week starting this afternoon will keep us stepping this week! I plan to have Jenika's class here for lunch and a fall party on Thursday and then we think cabin packing!! Jordan's class comes here for there fall party next week then we think cabin again!! This time of year is so much fun as we again pick up the pace. Thanksgiving being just around the corner, the yummy meal is taking place here this year! Holidays are great but I vow more and more every year that "I will not stress the unnecessary stuff!" Keep the "real reason for the season" in clear view and it's so much easier to enjoy the season and not get so stressed out!
Have a happy Monday!
Ps. Wednesdays food support group jumped to every other week now so we are giving this week a break. Next week November 12th is our next gathering. We might take some extra breaks over the holiday season so keep in tune. We would love to have a great crowd so we can learn from each other. Come on out and join us if you want to join in on "Baby Stepping to better health" with us.
