"Hunker Down"

We are gearing up for a snowstorm!! I was surprised not to see more snow on the ground when the sun came up this morning. They keep saying lots of snow is coming but we have yet to see more then pretty much wet slop. I think maybe tonight will be different though...:)

It was fun to get those three school calls this morning with "Two hour delays". I let the kids sleep in but I got up earlier then ever. I can't sleep in at all. Ever. Even if I tell myself "Ok now tomorrow is Saturday, I'm going to sleep in really long! I never can, those are often the mornings I wake up earlier then ever! Once I'm awake I might as well get out of bed...:)

I was able to make it out for some groceries and to fill up some propane tanks. Just in case we lose power I like to have the tanks full with the head heater ready. When we get snowed in way back here we can really get snowed in! The snow blows and drifts the driveway over and once that happens I'm not going anywhere in my mini van! I'm preparing that we will stay put here for awhile..:) I put up reflector sticks just in case some soul decides to plow us open anytime they should be able to tell where at least some of the driveway is!..:) We normally need plowed a few times since blowing snow just blows the snow right back over again!

Ladies Bible study was once again canceled. I was disappointed since we sisters and mom had plans to get together afterwards. I'm so ready for "Adult Conversation" again and I was looking forward to catching up with them all but I'm going to enjoy the snow to!

I got another school call later on this morning. School cancellation for Jenika!! Fairhaven is usually the last to cancel so I figured Linville will surely call off to! Marilyn told me she would do some sewing for us if I quick take her to a fabric store! I said "Deal, lets do it". I figured even if the boys do still have school I'd be back in time to get them on the bus. Well not so... the store was a packed house! Everybody had the same idea I think and we waited in line pretty long. I called Jordan and he was fine to make sure he and Javon were ready to get on the bus.! They went to school!! As it was snowing! Blowing sideways! But they are there and the snow has since slowed to a flurry.

Jenika is enjoying time here with me all alone... She has become such a great helper to!! Praise really goes a long way for this girl and she is now proudly doing chores that I never would have guessed she would be capable of doing! I set my mind to training her and she is soaking it right up!...Love it!

She is great in the kitchen to!! This girl thing will such a blast yet!! Love you Jen!

My Nicarugra guys!??  They are trying to get back home!

They are for now still in Nic I think. Last I heard from Dave through Email they had canceled flights. They were planning to fly in at 11:19 PM tonight! The way the weather sounded I figured that was going to be out of the question. I choose not to worry about what I can't control so I guess we will see them when they are able to make it home! We are really missing them! Dave said he is out of money and his ATM card won't work. He gave his money to a poor woman that had a sick husband. So much need over there where they are! I bet many people come back to the USA with no more dollars in the pockets!

We will make the best of it here Hon. You do the same and we will be ready with open arms when you and Justin get home! We will have the sleds ready for you!...:) Be Safe!!

The laundry is catching up. The smoker is smoking with the meat for supper. The house is warm. The music is going. The refrigerator has lots of food in it. So does the freezer. The snow is softly falling. The birds are going crazy over the bird feeders. The animals are all cared for and ready to hunker down. The trash normally goes with Dave to the shop and since he is not here for almost a week it had been piling up! I delivered that to the dumpster this morning so that feels nice. I got close to eight gallons of yummy chicken stock in jars from the chicken backs and necks that I cooked for hours on end on the outdoor cooker! We are so so BLESSED!! It almost makes me feel guilty when I see the pictures Dave is sending me!

Yesterday they went to the canal. He said it's about as bad as it gets. These are a few pictures he sent. The ladies crack open oysters! They probably either eat them or sell them!?
The cats!? Is that a kitchen?! I'm thinking yes but I'm not sure!?

(As I downloaded this picture it popped up side by side with the one above of Jenika in my kitchen! I'm so Blessed! The momma in charge of this kitchen would simply be astounded at mine or yours!! God bless her and her kitchen to!)

Not sure what this boy is doing? I had to think he looks to be about Justin's age. How much different are there everyday lifestyles? God has a purpose for them both. We do not get to chose where we are put on this earth as children. Let us be grateful for everyday blessings! (even the smallest, tiniest ones!)

They spent the afternoon at the beach!...
Looks like a different beach but a beach none the less...

Jenika and I are harvesting a batch of Kombucha. Folding a load of laundry. Putting the clean sheets back on the beds and cleaning up the basement before the boys come off the bus. The dog wants to be in the basement and Jenika lets her in far to often! I told her she needs to help me clean down there and then keep Sasha outside!! She has a cozy box but she hates it since she knows she can sometimes come inside!..:/ She can't wait until Summer when Jen spends hours outdoors with her! She adores her and I don't need to wonder why that is! She was even ready to give up her portion of the steak Jordan grilled yesterday so Sash can have some to!! No Jenika!! Then I tell her of all the hungry children daddy and Justin are seeing right now. She really has no concept. She did get to give Sash the bones then which she likes just as good anyway!

We are going to "Hunker Down" and enjoy the beauty of God's awesomeness!

My Nic guys... You are going to miss out!... We miss you!

#Dave says they are scheduled to fly out at 6:20 AM now. Pray for there safety thank-you!
