I started up a Facebook Group. It's called "Nutrition = My Mission"
I came back from the Goals Retreat weekend with a few goals in my mind that I wanted to accomplish. I know reading blogs takes time and posting them takes time to. I want to be more intentional about sharing our food journey since it seems many people have food realated issues these days. And we could all use ideas on how to chose healthier lifestyles. I want to use my education to help others and also on the Facebook page you all can help educate me as well...:) I'm still learning and I love new ideas and recipes from others!
I hope to share recipes, lunchboxes and snack ideas that we like. I want to add some pictures here and there and also share some of my grocery store finds along with tips that we find helpful. Baby Stepping is still in full swing here and I asked the Facebook Group for grace in advance since I feel very unqualified for this.
Do we ever feel qualified for anything?! I'm convinced it's a "No". I guess we just need to take leaps anyway if we want to get anywhere...:) I kept the group on Facebook private for now since the public setting looked a bit scary to me just yet but if you want to be added to the group please feel free to comment or message me and I'll add you on.
Jordan will share some on the page to. He's great in the kitchen! I want him to grow up sharing his testimony since it's just so powerful. So far he has been great with this and he loves when people like his food or want to eat like he does. He has a favorite cousin "Mark" starting to eat "Jordan" foods and he is taking an interest in the kitchen to! Jordan loves this!! It makes it handy to... example... The other afternoon Jordan went skating with Mark, he normally would have had to come home to our kitchen for his supper before heading back out to skate for the evening but Marilyn's kitchen is becoming somewhat Jordan friendly and Jordan was able to assemble himself something in Marilyn's kitchen! This was great for Jordan because he would have had to walk another time as far for his supper!...:) Thanks Marilyn for allowing him to take over your kitchen for a bit!...:)
For todays Food Group Meeting... It wasn't the best turnout. One person was here and we had a great time of sharing. Maybe the Facebook page will be a bigger hit since we live busy lives these days!...:)
I like that we get together as a support group and share ideas, recipes and we can taste things to. We have a Bean Bread we like and I often have extra loaves to share so the support group is a great place to exchange this bread. I don't know who and who is not coming for the support group meetings. When Linda did these meetings last summer I really liked it this way because if I made it I made it if not then I didn't feel pressured but it does keep me from planning other things on those days. It gets me preparing a light snack and I always like to make the house a bit presentable to...:) so it does take time. Not complaining but I feel bad when only one or two people show up so I'm not sure where this will go yet? I will plan on two weeks again and maybe you all could give me some feedback as to go on with it or not.?
What do we do at Support Group...? We sit around the table and chat. We share what is going on in our lives and our health. We talk about our kids...:) We share recipes. We pass around books or educational food related DVD's. We share challenges and rewards of the last two weeks since we were together last. We share a snack. It lasts a few hours most times and it is always rewarding, but the fact that I don't know how many are coming is sometimes tough since I don't want to make one person take the time to come and then not feel like it was really worth coming.
I will order bean bread from the bakery and pick it up on an every other week basis if the interest is there. It's great bread and after a year of no bread for Jordan we started to look for a bread he can enjoy again. We tried a few frozen Ezekiel breads but many had ingredients in them that he cannot have. We found this bread through Linda and we are so grateful to have found something that works for Jordan! We now all eat "Jordan" bread. Not as often since it costs seven dollars a loaf but we still use it for many different creative meals! It does not crumble in the toaster. The kids all love it as toast and we even make French toast again!
Join the Facebook Group if you want in on some of our "Jordan Friendly Foods"...
Be BLESSED Today...
