Javon enjoyed being given the scissors to clip off all the dead stuff from my house plants yesterday. The plants spent the summer outdoors but now they need to transition to indoor life...:)
The weather has turned cold! It feels frigid actually. We are not ready and we are thankful to see warmer temps ahead after tomorrow. My car gave a "ding" on the way out the driveway to church this morning warning us that it was thirty seven degrees! Even the car was a shock I think!...:)
We enjoyed our cabin time immensely! I wanted to get back on to post another post but I was enjoying the quality time way to much for computer! The cabin was cozy and we enjoyed the lovely sunrises that came streaming in the big glass windows out front! The hunters enjoyed time in the woods even if the deer were not on the move to much. Dave and I walked trails for miles (and not trails, more like brier patches at times!) We kicked up a really nice buck one time! He was big. We saw lots of "horn" as he disappeared into the brush!
We walked the ground at the old cabin. It always takes me back to many great memories when we walk the trails we have walked tons of times over the years!... The weather was chilly but so pretty! The leaves are at the peak season there and it was dry so we cracked and crunched as we walked...
This lovely piece of property with a real nice cabin is still for sale.
Dave made a strategic shot with his bow on the last evening hunt. It was getting dark and him and Jordan were in separate tree stands not having to much action. Two doe came along in a rush and Dave had to lean and bend oddly to make a perfect lung shot. He was pretty confident she was dead but they came in for supper then we all went out to do the tracking. We had a spot light, a bright flashlight then I brought up the rear with my phone flashlight. Jordan was hot on the trail until Dave told him in a quiet way to let the Little's lead and find the deer. They hooped and hollered when they saw the dead deer. Jen of course pitied it at first. The boys drug her out and we packed her with ice for the trip home.(she was strapped to the top of my mini van and yes I got lots of odd looks on the way home!)
We went for ice cream after the doe was found and tug... We ate ice cream way to late at night but it was a highlight!...
We were gone on our Thursday infusion day so we just packed Jordan's supplies and did infusion after his Thursday morning hunt... He could almost do this alone by now. He likes for me to do the needle part but I think he could do it if he had to...:)
He likes a snack during infusion... Chips and salsa it is... He also drinks lots of water during infusion!
Jordan wasn't sure about pulling back a bow with his sore arm but he had his cross bow to. He is pretty dead on target at fifty yards with his cross bow! One of these times he hopes to make a deadly shot!...:) He helps with the meat supply around here and he loves every minute of it!..:)
The Little's enjoyed catching the half froze little critters!... The outdoors is what they enjoy everywhere they go!!...
Today we had guests from New Jersey here today. Dave met Gary on a Summit at Sea and they clicked. He brought his wife and two boys today. They are from the NJ beach area and we already got a beach invitation for next summer..;) They enjoyed a pony ride, four wheelers, La cross, corn hole competition and lunch with us.
Tonight we have a freeze warning! Do I cover my almost ready beans? Do I cover the kale and other greens that I am so enjoying!? I'm not ready to say goodbye to the garden! Most likely the flowers will be pulled next week but I hope to keep the greens going for a bit yet! The big boys were great and pulled the tomatoes, peppers, sunflowers out yesterday. They clipped up the big raspberry bushes to! Dave and I had a wedding and they mowed and did garden while we were out...:) It was chilly but they did a great job and I so appreciate the big boy power around here!
I'm off to get the bed time process rolling so we are rested to start another school week! We so enjoyed our time off!!
