The lovely Saturday morning sunrise here...
It's a treat when I get out for a morning run with the sunrise! Saturday mornings sleeping longer feels nice but my guys were up and out early to hunt and I felt like I was missing out still being in bed. I'm so glad I got out early because as soon as the sun peeked through this horizon it disappeared so fast and it hasn't shown it's face since.
As I was finishing my run (going on mile six) I was watching this hot air balloon just ahead of me. It seemed like it was lined up perfectly for our field! Sure enough it came down right outside of our front door! I had called Jen and told her to quick run to the front door! It made for a commotion here for a bit! I had cut in and never made it to a full six miles...:)
The weather here yesterday had us bare feet and riding the mower with short sleeves! I went out to do mowing and blowing just simply because it was so lovely and warm! We had a day off of school because of PTC's so the kiddos enjoyed a day at home! The Little's played in leaves and rode the golf cart most of the day! When they are indoors they love to play school right now! They have a classroom set up in the basement and it's so much fun to hear them playing so nicely together!
Dave is back and we are getting back into life with him again. It takes adjustment at times since I'm a routine person and having him gone changes things and then it takes adjustment when he returns...:) I have come to the conclusion that these times apart are healthy for us. I had many a fits about him going away overnight back in the day. I got upset and even cried already. It seems as time goes on and his travels are many I got used to it and it has become more of a growing experience in our relationship. The kids of course are here and old enough to be my "adult" conversation. They keep my housework going and life goes on pretty much as usual (minis daddy's absence). I tell him now he can go but once the kids are grown and gone I will be coming with him everywhere!..:)
I filled 42 more quart jars with venison this week! It was so much fun to fill the jars with that lean great looking meat! Cooking it on the cookers for three hours has the meat so tender in the jars that it just falls apart tenderly when we open the jar!
The only thing I did was cube it, jar it up , add a teaspoon of salt and seal it in a hot water bath for three hours!! The last time I did this meat I had the jars setting on the basement porch to cool and Sasha discovered she can break the jars and eat the yummy contents inside! We woke to find a few broken jars in the yard! I'm sure she probably ate some glass along with that meat! I have a mostly hate relationship with this big slobbery dog!...:/
Parent teacher conferences at school went well. We are blessed with great teachers and staff at Linville Hill. We have adjusted to a faster pace school life and things are going well considering. I had to fill out a complicated form online so the state can do a back ground check on me because I volunteer in Javon's classroom and participate in field trips and so on. It's a precaution that the school does. It's definitely not as simple as our other school terms but we are still not regretting the change. The children are all doing well socially and academically Jenika and Jordan are getting there. Math is hard for Jordan and everyone will tell you Linville has hard Math! We are hoping to get his grades up before taking him out this winter!
We have found a tutor in Belize! Her name is Ariel. She sounds very interested in tutoring the school children this winter! Her parents are from Belize but they moved to Long Island New York and that is where she was raised. She recently moved to Belize and she is working as a substitute at the Island Academy. She has a B.S. in Applied Mathematics & Statistics from a New York University. She is New York certified assistant teacher. She has five years experience in tutoring grades 1-12 both in NY and on the Island. We are excited to meet her and just chatting through email she sounds really nice! I sent her pictures of the children so she can get to know them awhile..;) She will come to our Belize home to tutor the school children. I'm thinking it will be a few times a week. She will be the one staying in contact with our school to make sure the children stay on the same test schedules as the school students at Linville. As long as we find a schedule to stick to I think it will all work out great. It's the part where we get visitors from home coming to escape the cold with us that make me nervous about keeping up with the school work! We plan to have family and friends visiting some and I'm thinking we will be thinking "Party Time" when they arrive!...:) We will maybe work like crazy before they get there!...:} And oh my the adjustment when we come back to a classroom setting in March! Well... I won't even think about that for right now!...:} We are excited as the time comes closer!
Justin is excited to!! Two weeks until he turns the big SIXTEEN!! He is making plans to get his driving permit as soon as possible! He is one of the lucky ones that still gets to have a driving permit for a half year and not a full year! They have recently made it that if you were born after two thousand you will need to have a driving permit for a full year before applying for a real license!
It's Dave's day to work in the shop office. We like Saturday's here and the sun room is littered with library books! As soon as we get those new monthly school "Book it's" we are off to the library and we don't rest until the paper is full!..:) The thing is they love to get those free "Book It" pizza papers but we have yet to use them! Pizza Hut is not a place we often visit and we don't have one real close to here. Working on the reading paper is still great motivation so it's great even if we don't get the free pizza...:)
Jordan's infusion went well this week. CHOP is getting things lined up for us to take eleven weeks worth of medicine along to Belize for Jordan to infuse there but the insurance company is dropping us so we will be transitioning right at the beginning of the new year when we had hoped to have all that we needed with us in Belize. We are praying for a smooth transition and for everything to work out. The pharmacy planed to give us a note so we can carry his medication onto the plane with us.
Thanks for praying for Jordan's health! I organized his supplies this week and noticed we needed needles.
The pharmacy must have made a mistake and missed them somehow. They are great to work with and we had FedEx bring needles the next day! We are blessed to have this shipment arrive monthly but it's still a bummer to have to depend on something so costly! Jordan has his own insurance and it gives an issue from time to time because this medication is so so costly!! If we were to be responsible for the nine weeks of medication we will need while in Belize it would cost us over nine thousand dollars! We pray that Jordan's body makes it's own antibodies one day so we can drop treatment! We will be so close to Mexico this winter I wonder if it would be good to do some research and see what else is out there for cases like his. Praying and Processing...:)
Have a BLESSED Saturday!!
Jenika liked the sunrise to because she had tons of pictures on my camera this morning taken from her bedroom window! I love when they notice God's awesomeness around them!!...:) She is my natural morning person along with Jordan...:) She woke Javon to tell him to come look at the hot air balloon but he was so disturbed and he could have cared less about it!...:) I love the unique personalities in our home!..:}
