Rainy Week Once Again...

Today is raining.

Again.

We have gotten used to it I guess.

We are BLESSED with rain.

The grass gets mowed when we have breaks in the rain. It gets mowed whether its wet or not...:)

I'm also slowly pulling out the annuals as they either drown or die off.

I'm not sure how the garden is doing because its mostly to wet out there to care these days...;)

The indoor tower is where the greens are coming from so if the big garden does not produce this fall at least we have indoor greens coming.

The outdoor/indoor flowers were brought inside from the porch last week and the nook was transformed into a greenhouse feel once again. It feels like a jungle. I love it but it does create more dirt then I was used to all summer. I heard one of the kids say the other day "Why does our house have to be a forest!?" ...;)

The holes in the ceiling here were put there by our plumber. We had an upstairs bathtub leak that needed to be reached and now we wait to have the ceiling patched back up... So glad for those plumbers!

Outside is still beautiful when it dries out but it will be time to pull out all the annuals real soon. The sweet potato vines must have loved the wet summer because they went wild and I have many of them around here! I kind of dread pulling them because they root so deep but they are huge and crawling up over everything around them!

Last week... It is just one of those that I want to record on here...:)
So we always gear up for the Annual School Auction because we just know it will be a busy week. Three years is the time frame for a committee chair. This was our year number three.

It wasn't to bad actually. Just some extra computer time, phone calls and organizing lists. It was some road time to be picking up items that businesses were willing to donate to our school.

Its always a real fun sale and the items that come in are so neat! The many patron certificates are great to and I love to see what people come up with to sell! They get really creative and this makes for a fun auction!

We have three great auctioneers that are kept busy switching up turns all day long!

Friday for Dave and I was spent at school. From 9-3. Jenika and Javon came to join us in the gym for lunch. We set up all the donated items up on stage. Organized theme baskets and the kids tent and breakfast tables got set up to... The high school kids came over in groups and the many hands made things happen real quick!

The many hands that come together to make this happen are such a great blessing!! We the committee members and the food committee members notice if we have great patron participation! It makes all the difference on this sale day!

I LOVE to see the grandparents out on this day to! They are playing with their grandchildren and bidding on stuff inside!

We need a new swing set at school real bad. The kids get splinters on the old one and its pretty much literally falling apart! They put it up on PowerPoint and they hoped to make a dent in a seven thousand dollar quote they had gotten for a new one! Within minutes the whole seven thousand was funded!! I got teary when I saw grandparents putting money into this swing set so they can make things better for the next generation! The community feel at this sale is enough to bring chills up the arm many times from the stage!

We had so many nice items this year! I love this Patron body! We had a steady flow of cool items coming in most of the day Friday!

Friday after set up I quickly went grocery shopping so we had some food here for the weekend. We then quickly got showers and went out for the evening with my parents and siblings. Couples Only. Smoky had a birthday and Kath arranged for us to go out as couples and eat a great meal and we made a stop for ice cream on the way home! We laughed and laughed and it was so much fun!

Marilyn's boys were here at our house with our kids so they had a great time to!

I thought I took pictures of this but I can't find any now...

We got to bed late and so tired this night. A good tired...:)  Knowing the night would be short but everyone was excited about Sale day so waking them up even earlier then a normal school morning on a Saturday was no problem at all! They popped right out of bed and we then enjoyed breakfast in the gym at school to start off this busy day.

The prizes, tickets, games and rides had the Little's so busy all day that we only saw them from our spot on the stage from time to time through out the day, or they do come to see us when they need more money...:) It seems to slip away easily on this day!

Saturday morning also always starts off with a 5k run. We would love to run this but with being on the committee we need to be ready for Auction time early so maybe next year we can run again since this was our final year. At this point its hard to even imagine not being here for this event two days all day...:)

Javon came in first in the Kids Fun Run again this year! Again I'm not outside watching because we are busy inside. Maybe next year he will do the 5k with Dave and I...:) We love how he seems to be a natural runner!

We were at school until two o'clock in the afternoon. Food was still being sold over auction but it was mostly wrapping up earlier then usual and we needed to leave before it was all over this year. We rushed away to make it to a wedding in Manheim.

Jordan, Dave and I had Cameron and Sylvia's wedding.

The Little's were so tired that they didn't mind staying here all evening alone. They had belly's full of junk and the big huge box of crafts we bought at the sale (Javon's class project) had them busy the entire time we were out! (I won't talk about the mess they made because hey they were here alone and they had so much fun and entertainment so how dare I fuss about the mess!)

The wedding was so beautiful!!

Blessings to you two as you begin this journey of marriage...

Cameron and Sylvia are great! Cameron is pastor Leroy's son. Dave mentors him some and he also works out of the shop hauling sheds. He calls to run things by Dave sometimes and I love the connection they have.

The craft box is still a highlight around here! They paint stuff. They make slime. (oh my) They build stuff. They mix stuff. They make a mess everywhere. Jenika makes these clay horses and she is really good at it to!

Saturday night we got in from the wedding cold and damp. It was rainy and chilly during the reception but I know they were super thankful that the rain held off nicely so they could do the ceremony and pictures outide! We went to bed so tired this night again! BUT it was a happy tired! :)

Sunday morning was up early once again! Dave ran around the block quick while I made meatball sauce. It was out the door to church earlier then usual because we are on the food committee and today was fellowship lunch! I had made a huge warmer full of meatballs earlier in the week knowing I'd only have time to grab and go Sunday morning...:)

It went great. Fellowship lunch goes well with many helping hands but we are still with the first group to arrive at church and the last group to leave after the clean up!

We took a small refreshing nap and went out once again. A dinner invitation by one of Dave's investor friends is where we went this time. They had a cookout and I was thankful that we dressed warm for it because even though we had a break in the rain it was once again damp and chilly. It was a great time getting to know new friends and catching up with old ones. Jenika and Javon made new friends right from the beginning and they enjoyed their night out to! Thanks Jeff and Rhonda for hosting us!

Lets just say Monday morning started out slower...:) Here at home for me. Clean up around the house and the piled up laundry got attention as soon as the kids got on the school bus. The break in the rain afternoons (after morning showers) had me outside mowing and blowing.

After I got stung by a bee while pulling vines at the swimming pond I finished what I was doing and promptly called it a day. Early but done for the day...:) (Bees are so bad this year!! I keep praying Dave won't get stung! We killed two bees in the house just today! Jordan got stung by a hornet the other day while cleaning up the fish pond!)

Jordan then went and had guys over last night. Five of them for spike ball. Because of our crazy schedule (and his) he is going on four days ~over due~ for his antibody infusion. I made it clear that it happens today even if it means missing Living Room this evening! He said "I'll get on as soon as I get off the bus today and still make Living Room!"

Israel is on our minds! Last night we had a whole group call with our tour guy from Good Battle Tours "Cliff Graham". It seems to be coming together. It sounds like we will have phone service and WIFI so I really hope I will have the time to post everyday as we go along our tour! It sounds like it will be busy and they say its hard to keep the days all organized so they encourage carrying a notebook. I think it would be great to post everyday so we can look back on it all when we get home!

The rain has not let up yet. I'm wanting to get out to put fishing line string on some posts. Dave put up posts for me last night so I can hang my line across.

Why?

Down in the meadow where the pony and chickens are kept is a great place for the hawks to find live food. (or so they think so)  We need to keep these hawks away from my chickens somehow! They have gotten five of them already and if we don't do something to protect them they will all be hawk food and we won't have eggs to enjoy!

I'll trick them with fishing line string. But it has to be high enough so Ginger won't run into it. I hope my ladder won't sink in mud by now!

Stay high and dry on this once again rainy week!...:)
