It's been one of those weeks that have not found me at the computer... It's been our usual August busyness...:) Every year I tell myself I'm going to slow my August down a bit so I can enjoy every minute before the "Back to School" routine takes over once again. Normally I do a lot of canning in August but I'm pushing it off a little longer this year since Javon will be in school some to and I "hope" to have more time on my hands.
Monday was corn day!... Jenika and I headed out early to her dentist appointment then we made some stops for her "Back to School" stuff. We got her shoes, socks and a few summer things for next year that were on clearance. I took her with me for her dress material, with her being so picky I figured maybe if I let her pick it out she will wear and like it better! Sis Marilyn sews Jenika's school dresses and she is so creative and good at it. She makes the cutest dresses but Jen still has only a few favorites that she wears over and over and she has many dresses that are now to small that she hardly even wore!
She sure picked out her dress material...:) Let me tell you how it went... She first looked and then she touched it. She loves all shades of blues! She saw some with sparkly stuff in it. She wanted that. She then looked some more and she choose another color with the sparkly stuff in it. (same type of material) When it was all said and done she had like six pieces picked out and most of them were blue with sparkly stuff!! If I suggested something else she turned up her nose...:} She will be sparkly for sure this year because the shoes she chose are also blue and sparkly!... I said "Well I guess at least your shoes will match most of your dresses"!! Blue and sparkly!!...:) Love her!! We need to get her desk supplies yet. She will probably choose "Blue and Sparkly!!"
After shopping we stopped for the corn... It was past lunch time until I got set up in the side yard and the cookers started... I had no idea I would be at this until nine o'clock at night!! It was GMO free and organic for the first time ever for me! Thanks Wilma!! I was so happy with it!! It had really full ears and hardly any worms at all!! I did three hundred ears of corn and got sixty "two cup" freezer bags!! I did think it tasted a bit more flat but since most of it goes in soups and stuff anyway it will be perfect.
I started doing my corn independently since my sisters have some from their gardens and it is just tons if we all do it together! It takes really long if we all do ours together!! But after I was at it so long anyway and so sick of looking at corn I might go back to the "all doing it together" idea after all...At least I have somebody to talk to:) My ankle did not appreciate this day! Mom and Sissy's were all together yesterday then at Marilyn doing their corn, I did stop in and help them for awhile after Dave's allergy appointment. I could hardly leave since they had eight hundred ears and still had tons to do when I left!
My helpers came and went all afternoon on Monday but I was thankful for every bit that they helped me with...:)

| Jordan wanted to eat a piece so bad but he didn't...:) |
We now have corn for awhile! This comes in so handy when I'm ready to can soups!
Dave had his allergy test done... He hated it!! It took long!! They had to give breaks in between and we were there for about four hours!
They tested him for five different types of bees. They did five rounds of tests with each round giving a higher dose of the bee venom. Yellow Hornet was out at round four already with being highly allergic. The other bees all showed up to as allergic to after the fifth round, this makes him allergic to the five bees they tested for sure... Yellow Hornet, Wasp, Honeybee, White-faced Hornet, and Yellow Jacket. He needs to carry two EpiPens and they gave him Zyrtec chewables to keep handy and also he needs to keep liquid Benadryl on hand and needs to take fast action if ever he is stung!!
They think the reason he might not have reacted from the last bee sting was because he was still immune from the hard hit one a few weeks before that.
We have decided we like the outdoors and nature to good to have this hanging over us, we have scheduled "Immunotherapy". This will be a process. He will receive weekly venom shots for eight to ten weeks, after this series he gets a dose two weeks later, a dose three weeks later, a dose four weeks later then every five weeks for four years!!! After five years he should be good to go or maybe just a booster every so often. This sounds like a lot!! The first ones need to be done at the allergy center where he will be closely monitored since a slight reaction is expected. After the first few doses he can stay closer to home and just visit a nurse. This sounds hard coming from a guy that hardly ever even needed to visit a Doctor for anything and he hates needles to!! He was acting much worse at the allergy center with the needles then Jordan ever did!...:}
Dave and the boys plan to do a shed move this evening and he will be stopping at home for an EpiPen first!...:) We can't wait to put this behind us. I researched it all and it looks like the only thing going into his system is venom from these bees to immune his body to them. It's just a bummer that he needs to receive five different types! I was hoping he was only allergic to one kind of bee.
Today I went to see Doctor Steve again. He is happy with the strength of my ankle. I ran a few miles this morning again. I just have a hard time getting out early enough since I got into the habit of sleeping a bit longer the past weeks...:} I could get used to that! It's time I find my morning routine again...:} Doctor Steve says running is okay!!
I stopped at Wegman's for Jordan. He is doing great but when we run out of his favorites he is lost! Coconut milk being one of them! He uses this in his powder shakes and smoothies, when we run out he uses coconut water which he does not really like. He eats one good meal a day right now, he is still doing his powder shakes in the morning and again late afternoons. He feels great and I'm scared to mess with anything but it will soon be time since his supplies are getting low, this means that this cleansing stage is almost through... just in time for "Back to School" I dread packing those lunches! I should be thinking about things now already that I will want to put in since we will need to get creative in the "not so perfect" food system that we live in!... I thought this was an interesting question...
I made it to the "Food Sensitivity" meeting at Linda's today. We talked about the fact that we can get immunizations for almost anything, (we were talking about Dave's immunizations) we wondered why we can't be immunized for food sensitivities..? I guess putting that thing that our bodies are reacting to into our system all the more does not work with food. At least not yet...:)
Linda is taking a break from these gatherings since they are busy looking into care for there son "Riah" who is fighting MD. He is so adorable and it is so sad knowing that he realizes something bad is happening to his little body... To follow Linda's blog go here... www.faithhopeandhealing-fightingmdforriah.blogspot.com She is so educated and I love learning from Linda!!
I will be taking over these meeting for her for now. I think they were so educational and the support has been great for me. I always learn so much. Linda always had yummy creative foods to taste to!. I think here it will be more low key but I still want to do it. Maybe we will do something like "bring a food to taste or a recipe you like" it's great to get new ideas! I will probably do Wednesdays at ten in the morning, every other week. I want to wait until school starts though since August can be crazy here! I will keep you posted and if you suspect food allergies or are in need of a support group please spread the word and join us!
The cooler temps and the rain showers have my garden seeds sprouting. I think the cooler summer is so nice! I love that things are still lush and green!! It seems to make the weeks go by faster, it can kind of leave the feeling that we might have missed out on some summer. The pool has been clean but deserted the past few weeks! I'm keeping it clean and the pump running but the water must be cold and swimming is just not that great anymore. I can tell it will be time for the "Back to School" schedule once the summer activities die down. The golf cart still runs around the property pretty much all day long! It has been great for the kids and they so enjoy cousin time on the golf cart often this summer!!
I'm off to clean my little corner of the school house in preparation for "Back to School"!! Oh goodness I'm so not ready yet!!
#comingreadyornot!
Have a BLESSED evening...
