I had in mind... A relaxing quiet picnic lunch at our favorite park, the one down close to the shop, where the kids can swim and fish while I would have been watching from the bank, sunning myself with my book, while watching them have a blast in the river...:)
Anyway... Dave had what he thought was a better idea... Something a little more adventurous and wild...:) We decided to surprise the kids and not tell them we changed park plans...:) Some of them loved it more and some liked the calm fishing spot at our usual place better...:) We are a good mixture of personality here!! (three and three!!) Three of us like calm and three like WILD!!
Can you guess who is who?? I'm sure those of you that know us well got it figured out in no time...:)
This was Dave's wild idea... And he had in mind that we have been having lots of rains lately, so the water would be even more FUN~!!! (his opinion)
I'm trying to be more of an adventurous person and not always think I need a comfort zone, or a routine, (like I tend to go for) I do say "yes" to many more adventurous things now that the kids are older, but, I have a hard time really enjoying myself on a day like today! I wish it wouldn't be that way but it is...:) Half the kids had tears at some point and I could feel for that half! The other half was having the time of there lives and were also enjoying watching or laughing at those of us that were not so into this adventure...:)
It was OK. We did make great memories on the river today. We packed a lunch and pulled off to grill our burgers. We had packed a small grill and a few lunches with our supplies. It was very Eco friendly and we didn't even have seats to sit on (just the ground) but we made the best of it and it was fine...:)
Jordan was not happy that Justin kept falling off of there canoe! He was always trying to keep the boat under control and as soon as he thought they finally had the feel of it Justin would tumble over board! Or, he was standing or dancing while trying to man his ore! Not Jordan style at all!! Jordan had tears at one point and I think he was thinking of his quiet fishing spot and wishing he would rather be fishing! His line was along but he didn't even bother to try to fish with all this commotion going on!
This was typical Justin style...
Towards last I stopped trying to bark orders at them from a ways ahead and just let them make the best out of it but almost every time I looked back they were almost always swimming along side or dragging there boat, trying to get back on was a challenge in the deeper parts and at times we pulled off to help them dump the water from there canoe!...
Swinging/Jumping... Big rock in the way!!...Dave got lucky!...:/
Eating her lunch "river side"
She is wet from swimming and he has tears in his eyes because he is tired of it and wants to go home!:)
Jordan did loosen up a lot the last half of the trip! He just decided to tumble off to when Justin did...:)
It was a great time and the afternoon out of the house was fun...:) I had a mess to clean away with all the sand, dirt and wet clothes, lunches and bags to unpack, but it was worth it...:) Next time us calm ones will get to choose the place...:)
Lets just say my Mom would never survive this type of adventure! I try not to worry but the idea of just going on ahead and leaving the two boys way behind to make the best of it was not my idea of fun... Dave said..."We will all end up at the same place, the river only runs one way!" Oh well I was not relaxing knowing Jordan was struggling with his adventurous brother! And we drove over a snake to!! I'm working on my comfort zone here... Maybe I'll get there yet...:) Is it possible to change a personality?? I'm just wondering if the day will come when I really look forward to this type of thing??? Maybe??...:)
My bags are packed and I told Dave, I'll be thinking of this trip while sitting on the beach tomorrow!! I'll probably be so tired of just sitting on my beach chair I'll wish for this river adventure...:) I doubt it...:} I'm looking forward to my two days away!! Thanks to Martha Rose for having Javon!! He is so looking forward to hanging out with Ty and Jerome! Thanks to sister Marilyn for having Jordan and Jen tomorrow and Sis in Law Marilyn for having Jenika on Tuesday! My Rachel Ann is on vacation this week... We miss you girl but hope you are having a great time at the "Smoky Mountains"!
I'm off to get my rest after my stressful afternoon...:) We had a lovely down pour of rain this afternoon! It seems every time the flowers need water it rains again!! So Lovely!! We got in the house just in time before the major part of the rains came to close windows! We would have had some really soaked carpets had we not made it before the rain! I didn't realize they were calling for rain but it was a great bonus!...:)
For me...:)
Have a blessed week!!
