Cabin on a Hill...

We moved our cabin from here to here over the weekend...

We worked. Hard. We sweated alot. Our feet hurt. Our backs hurt. We were all so tired till the day was over. Our shower felt wonderful late last night!! BUT... It will be so worth it!!

It was fun to see everyone join in and use talents and many put lots of hard work and effort into making this happen at this lovely new cabin... Here is a glimpse of everyone doing a small or large part to make this a very successful weekend...:)

Jonathan made this all fall into place so fast!! Thanks Jonathan!!

The guys went over early Saturday morning and they got rid of so much saw dust and clutter! They did a great job ahead of Marilyn, Mom and I. We came in after breakfast and cleaned the cabin real good. We had to use razor blades on the windows and we got rid of so much construction dirt. All with carrying hot water from the old cabin in big buckets! We were left with only half as much water in the buckets by the time we made it up and down both of those bumpy driveways! Yes our new driveway is long and bumpy to!!

Jordan and Ashley did awesome with babysitting!! They stayed at the old cabin both of the work days with all the children! Jordan was put in charge of Angel and Sayily. He loved this...:) We were so glad to have such great sitters!! Thanks Guys!! Chris and Ruth came Sunday which brought more baby sitters for Monday's workday and Ruth cleaned and cleaned at the old cabin to!! Thanks Ruth!! Leah did food and tried to work amidst the chaos in the cluttered kitchen!! Thanks Leah!!

Mom, Marilyn and I cleaned for about eight hours! We made way for the decorating crew and all the furniture to!... It is really dry and dusty up there!! We did get a small rain shower to settle some of the dust but we hope the yard seeds get more rain soon!

Praise the Lord for all the "Man Power" that we had!! These guys worked!! They even cleaned windows for us!...:)

Nelson did trim work indoors, Little boys helped load and unload the trailer over and over again. Gideon put chairs together...:) Thanks to you all!! We had a very tired but happy crew of children till this day was over!!

Papa and Mom did all kind of odds and ends! They worked hard! Mom is great at cleaning windows and she went through so much clutter!

At the old cabin.... Everything goes... We all helped "houseclean" as we emptied out each of the rooms. We have many happy memories from this place which is now cleaned, emptied and for sale!!... We loved here but with bigger and better hunting grounds about ten minutes out it made sense to make the move.

Then back to the new cabin we went for the set up of bedrooms. Kitchen cabinets got furnished. Martha and Roxy did the shopping and decorating for this... It looks beautiful! You did amazing work guys!

Up goes my buck head... It's the center piece for now...:) We picked him up at the taxidermy on the way up to the cabin. He will go great with the other cabin decor...:)

Furniture moving in...

Then came Jonas with his landscape skills to seed the grass and move lots of dirt and stones!!

Was our weekend uneventful??!! As usual NO it was not!...

We praise the Lord that all are safe but this first picture here into the second will tell you a bit of how this tree trimming job went... It was again involving "A better view" from the porch!!

Picture number one...

Picture number two!!

Matthew (Peter) has a sore ankle and he is not even sure how he landed but he came down into the pines and Dave was so scared and after the dump he tore off his seat belt and went searching for his brother! That put an end to the tree trimming job!

This big tree stand was another hair raising ordeal. Dave again the center of the action! He made it!! He was belted in thinking he could so easily tip this rig! What this guy don't get himself into!! Matthew couldn't believe how scared Dave looked as he was SLOWLY bringing this thing up the hill to the new location!! Both hands on the wheel!! Justin watching... He was such a great helper to!!!

We now have a lovely home away from home!! I can't wait to go back up and finish up and then soak up the view from the porch! It's lovely! This cabin now has five bedrooms and two baths. We plan to finish out the basement this winter and add five more small bedrooms, a bath and a play area for the kids. It will be a great spot for the Zook family vacations!!

My birthday was on Sunday. Sandwiched between the two very busy days! I was glad it was on the rest day!...:) It was a great day! Dave and I started the day off with a five mile run/hike on the lovely trails around this new cabin. We then showered and went to a small church that the next door neighbor farmer invited us to. This Zook family sure filled some benches at this small church and our children filled up the children's church class! They were thrilled to have us and they even let us pick one of our family favorite songs! (Jesus Hold My Hand) The kids all left the church with a snack pack in each hand! We were sure they will need to restock the snack box since we surely wiped them out!...:)

We then had an awesome big cooked lunch Mom had prepared (Dave's favorite mashed potatoes) We invited the farmer and his wife. They were so happy about this...:) Then it was a relaxing afternoon of naps and coffee on the porch at the new cabin. Dave, Justin and I snuck into the ice cream shop to top the day off with a peach milkshake....;) Thanks to those that took the time to wish me a happy birthday!

We missed you Dave and Rose. Your room got moved nicely with everyone working together. Thanks for the email you sent! We love to hear Africa news!! Leandra you crack me up!! The comment she made about baby Alan's picture she saw on my blog (his chubby belly was sticking out from under his shirt) was this "Is he Pregnant??!!" Oh she is to cute!! ~Hugs Leanny from aunt Suz~

Kent and Marianna, we missed you to!! How are you enjoying Tennessee? I can't wait to meet that new niece of mine!! Blessing to you!!

As for today it's so very warm and humid! The washer is going nonstop. The bags are unpacked. The house stayed nice and tidy over the weekend. I met Kate at school (We are room mom's for Jenika's class) to serve Rita's water ice to the class just because it's so hot today!! Thanks Kate!! What a great idea!  I'm sure they loved it!! As soon as I got there Jenika comes running to me and she was kind of crying. She tells me her belly hurts. I didn't help serve to much water ice since I went off to care for her.

She was sweating a lot so we washed her face and she laid down a bit. I came home for oils and an ice water bottle. Javon and I then joined the second grade class for story time to stay with her and see if she'd soon feel better. I was rubbing her head and feet during story time but when she threw up her lunch I decided to bring her home. She is now comfy in the air condition on the recliner. I think it was to late bedtimes the past three nights and also the cabin is normally an eat what you want, when you want type of weekend and she loves junk food if its available! And it's always available at the cabin! She gets her fill of junk food when I'm not looking!! This makes for a food hangover sometimes!! I feel bad for her, I preach to her about the importance of making healthy choices even when Mom is not around and she seems to soak it up more when her belly hurts...:)

It takes me for a loop at times to. We just eat more junky when we get out of routine. Jordan did great and he is again able to enjoy duck eggs! He had an egg for breakfast this morning and he was fussing over how good his breakfast was today!!... Duck egg (cooked over light) a piece of his bread toasted with GHEE on top. A few beef cubes cooked and shredded. He ate it as a sandwich and he loved it!
The cabin time is always more challenging for him and I often see him going for fruit when those around him are snacking. He is done with his powder shakes and we are slowly introducing more foods back into his diet. He is thrilled about this!!

Justin got on the big yellow bus this morning! We were able to arrange busing for him since Javon is going to Linville! This will be great! Javon will get on with him tomorrow morning and he can't wait...:) It's a bit earlier then we are used to but it was fun to take him out to the end of the drive with the golf cart this morning and then finish up with Jenika and Jordan. Why don't we send them all to one school?? We are praying about this. They love the walk home with cousins! At least Jen does!!
