Flowers are a huge highlight of summer. The color that erupts after a cold dreary winter here in Lancaster county is breathtaking! The trees are showing beauty once again and things are really waking up everywhere!! Despite the cold week last week it's still the season of spring so we are acting upon it..:) Yes my tomato plants froze. Even under the buckets! Next year I must wait longer to put them in!! I didn't plant all that I wanted to in case of freeze but now I need to replace the frozen ones I guess. I just like to plant all at once and then be done. Not the case with a garden I guess. I'm learning.
At the greenhouse this morning...
I packed Javon a big lunch before we left since I didn't know the exact plans for today. It was the perfect pass time as we mom's enjoyed the flower shopping!...:) Javon loves cousin time!
This morning we shopped a bit for garden stuff and a few flowers. Mom, sisters and I like to green house shopping together at least once in the spring. Today we had the kiddo's and no trailer so we all went lighter then usual. It worked out fine since Smoky and Kath are in the midst of remodel at their house so she didn't get to many flowers. The house on Old Mill is coming along so nicely!! It does not look like the same place that I was raised anymore!! I will post pictures of the finished product soon. They hope to move in a few weeks and start to enjoy "Home" again!
We stopped at Mommy Beiler's house on the way home and planted a few flowers in pots. Her house now stands empty. She loved flowers and her gardens were always so beautiful and well kept! We missed seeing her there today but she is at the best place for care, for her condition. She keeps talking about home. She is at the elderly home but to her it's still not her home at all. We are not even sure at this point where she thinks home really even is!? Thanks for praying for her and her children as they adjust to a new normal.
Dave made it back from Cancun. He was back just in time to get the big boys ballgame in last evening. It feels so good to have him here again! Doing his pile of laundry felt strange here this morning after not having a pile for him for five days! Life feels complete once again with him at my side...:) He is always bubbling over with great stuff. He always gets more educated. He always enjoys and soaks up the seminars. The education is great to him but being with like minded people is also something that he thrives on!!.. Glad to have you back Hon!!
I was in the kitchen yesterday. Dave's trips away from home always have him coming home ready to eat my kind of food again. "Unless he is in Belize"...:) I made lots of egg muffins with meat and veggies for the freezer. He sticks one or two of these in a small crock pot each morning for breakfast. I made oatmeal raisin cookies to. They were really dry though! Think they will need milk or coffee for sure. I'd share the recipe but I doubt I will use it again so I'll move on to the next one and maybe when I find one we like I'll share it..:)
School is coming to it's last busy weeks!! I look at my calendar and I have no idea how we will make it through and still be sane! We have two spring programs in one week. Two track and fields in the same week. Three field trips and then the final picnics!
Jenika's picnic day falls on Javon's field trip day. I had to tell Javon I can't come with him after all. He was okay with it. We are on food committee at Fair Haven so it wasn't really an option to skip this. Jordan's field trip is to the Franklin Institute where he was with his Fair Haven class last year. It will be a long day for them. I have opted to skip this field trip to. Jenika's field trip is this week on Thursday. Lake Tobias. I'm coming along and I'm looking forward to a day out with her and her class.
Tomorrow is food group day!! Join us!!! Jordan gets his infusion in the afternoon and then he also has an appointment with a lady from Missouri tomorrow evening. She is up here for a wedding right now and she agreed to meet me with Jordan. I met her in Florida.. She really treats feet and she can tell what in the body is not functioning properly just from the muscles in the feet. We really want to end the infusions so we are striving to do what we can for Jordan's body! We believe in complete healing for Jordan but it will most likely take effort on our part with this world that we live in.
Friday is cabin time!! We are looking forward to a weekend with friends at the cabin!! Turkey season is here so I imagine the guys will get some hunting in! I will try for a cabin post sometime this week-end... I'm off to plant some flowers and give those tomato plants another shot... Tonight is mulch work night for the Dienner family at my dads... We love to work together to do dad's mulching every spring!
We love warm days... Surely they are just around the corner now!!... Have a BLESSED Day!
