We never get together without talking about Marty. It has been a year this past week-end since she passed away. It really does seem at times that she just dropped out of our lives as friends, we just don't seem to relate with her husband as we would with her were the tables turned. It seems like her children have found a new normal and are happy. Lloyd is a wonderful father and also does a great job filling the shoes of a mother as well. The children really are blessed with a hard working dad that truly wants the best for them.
This is my "Hasta" plant that was given in her memory.
We group of friends all got a Hasta plant last year, it was good to see Darlene's today in her flower garden. Thanks Darlene for hosting us. I rarely miss buddy day when invited since Marty's passing because we never know when it will be our last time together and we always have a great time catching up on our lives as busy Mothers!
This is the "In Loving memory" paper that was written in Marty's memory... Since I'm a better typer then I was a year ago I'll print it out... I think it is so well written.... It was written by her family...
You were a wife, a mother, a daughter, and sister, You were a friend loved by all who knew you, There are so many people who loved to see you smile, You were ours to love only for a little while.
Martha, you left behind a husband who really loved you, You had five healthy boys to walk in your footsteps: Your dear baby girl you absolutely loved and adored, But now you left them to be with our Lord.
You have a loving father and mother: You have two sisters and two brothers... We mourn you because we miss you and love you, Our hearts are aching and broken in two.
We think we can't go on without you, It seems that life has stopped for awhile: If only we could hear your voice one more time, But you have reached your final heavenly climb.
Jesus, you know how very much we miss her, You know how our hearts are broken in two.
We loved her so much and it's hard to let her go, But we picture her in Heaven, Lord, walking beside you.
I can imagine her strolling among the flowers, I can almost hear her singing for all hours, She will be perfectly at home in that angelic band: Jesus, I know she's happy in that heavenly land.
You were like a shepherd to your little flock, You loved and gently cared for your own: Isaiah 40:11 was your promise to lean on, It was your comfort, before you were called home.
You heard "Jesus Calling" and answered his call, Tho' sometimes you felt weary and felt like you would fall, Your life on earth is over, your standing on the mountaintop so tall, It gives us faith and courage that we can meet you after all.
Our changes come from God, He who never changes, Let's hold firm in the grasp of the rock of all ages: We know who holds our future, tho" not his plans, But we know we are held firmly in his hands.
You have met the master artist in the sky, Painting sunsets with you by his side: Walking with Jesus on the streets of purest gold, Living in that land that never grows old.
Someday soon we'll meet you in that wondrous land, We'll join in singing in the glorious angle band, We're moving onward while the ages roll, We shall find sweet rest for our weary soul.
Good-by Martha, you've fought a good fight, your battle is o'er, We will stand courageous, till we meet on the other shore: Ever onward we're being led to our glorious home, To meet you and Jesus by that heavenly throne.
We Miss you Marty!!
This was the second time one of our close friends died suddenly. A very sudden death, and it seems so cruel for them to be taken so suddenly! Our good friend Allen from church was electrocuted while working a concrete pumper truck close to electric wires some years ago. It was and is so sad to see his girls grow up not knowing there outgoing/outstanding father. We wonder ..."Did God mess up on this one??" Then Marty was taken in a golf cart accident last year and we again wonder..."Did God mess up again??" Yet we do know he is "all knowing" and we cannot question his will. We want to move on, except, yet in our earthly flesh, I see it's so hard at times!!
God is our comforter and the friends and community we live in can be so uplifting! Pray for Lloyd and his children and Marty's family this week if you think about them, I'm sure that "one year" mark really does hit the softest spots on there hearts.
Let us not forget those who struggle with the parting of Death! It really is a hard word to come face to face with, yet we all know we need to face it to see Jesus, face to face, and spend eternity in Heaven, so I like to look at it like... They are only a few steps ahead of us... Let us carry out with joy our purpose God has for us here on earth and when he sees that the timing is perfect, we may all meet again... This time forever!! Yay!!
Have a blessed day...
The rains are here again today!! Off and on... Never do we know when the next shower will be?? Or when the hot sunshine will be out?? Just seems to be a mixture of both all day, everyday, right now!! We seem to be adjusting to it...:)
