It feels so nice to have some sunshine and the awesome breeze that these islands are blessed with!
I will back up a bit to yesterday, since it was a big day and I was not able to do a post.
It was "Jordan's Day" yesterday! We left our place in Punta Gorda a little before seven o'clock in the morning to do a short fishing trip! We woke the kiddo's, packed the luggage into the truck and drove a short distance where we met a local fisherman who took us out on his boat. The water was a bit choppy but he said the fishing should be great anyway!
We headed out to sea and I kept catching the glimps of the sparkle in Jordan's eye that was making these fishing hours so worth it. None of us others were really into fishing and the fishing guide planned to drop me and the Little's off at a nearby island where he had a friend that was the caretaker.
The guys dropped me and the Little's off on this teeny tiny island and said they will be about three hours or so! I wasn't sure about this but I had my book and Jenika and Javon had each other. We found some neat star fish and we walked the whole thing like five times! We were getting bored by the time the guys came back for us!
Justin had been throwing up like crazy and Dave was not feeling the best either by the time they made it back to us! He says he don't know why he don't learn once that deep sea fishing is not for him!! And I guess not Justin either now! Poor Jordan was the only one enjoying this so far!
We came back and they cooked up the fish for our lunch, served with no other then rice and beans...:) It was yummy and all but Jenika chowed down since we were starving by now! She went mostly hungry for the day...:/ It was afternoons by now and we only had a very light breakfast of fruit! We are so enjoying the fresh fruit here and we stop at the small side fruit stands every chance we get!
Jordan and one of his fish...
And later eating it...
After our lunch we headed up towards Belize city to look for a room for the night. We wanted to be close to the car rental place so we could drop off the truck and go straight to the water taxi without spending to much time in the city.
We drove and drove!! It was about four hours but seemed longer since we drove through some areas where we didn't see a single person or vehicle for miles and miles on end!! We drove the foot hills of mountains and it seriously seemed we were out in the middle of jungle, totally alone!!
The roads were a mess for much of the way to! Pot holes and puddles everywhere!! We could have went better roads but it looked shorter this way on the map. We saw much of the country side for sure!!!
We found a motel outside of the city for the night. We got two rooms so we showered and called it a night! Justin was thrilled to be able to watch the Eagles game on the motel TV! Not the clearest but he could see the plays for the most part and see the score!...:)
We left there early this morning and dropped off the truck. The rental company took us to the water taxi (thankfully, it was farther then we thought and we would have had a hard time finding this on our own!) We had about a half hour boat ride to Caye Caulker.
It is very busy here and most every room is full! We are in the heart of tourist town right here! We found a place to sleep tonight close to the water taxi so we can head off to Ambergris Caye tomorrow for seven days...Yay!!
It is nice here to. We did some swimming and exploring. We plan to eat this evening at Wish Willy's.
We all got some sun today again and the hotness of it had me scrambling for sunscreen all of the sudden!
Here we are leaving the city behind...:) On the water taxi...
Thanks for keeping up with us...
Mom... we are all well again! We are looking forward to settling in on the island tomorrow!! It was great to cover so much ground in Belize, we saw so much of the country from all the driving and short stays here and there but it really feels like I need to organize again and do some laundry so we are looking forward to unpacking for the last week of this trip!
I sit and blog as I watch my Babies crawl on the rocks exploring the crystal clear waters as the sun is setting, it's so warm and the breeze is so warm on our skin! We truly are so blessed to be here and in a way it feels like our vacation is just starting! The islands have less bugs, more sun and we will be moving much less... I'll be back once we reach Ambergris Caye sometime hopefully tomorrow!
Love you all...Suz
Ps. missing you Marilyn, Kath and your kiddo's!! Set a date to catch up when we return!! Tell Mark Jordan paid some local kids a dollar today to borrow him a fishing line and fish from the dock here! He was loving it and caught a fish! They are beautiful here and you can have the line way deep in the water and still see the fish trying to grab at the bait! He will love these islands!!
BLESSINGS!
