Almost There.... Think SPRING!!
We are almost there!! A few more days until we can welcome the new season of Spring!!
We had another few inches of snow this morning bringing us a two hour school delay (which we have come to love!) It made more time for hanging out in the kitchen together. I started bread as the big guys made there own breakfast scramble. Jenika was sitting on the counter top wrapped in a blanket reading me a story from her reader as I mixed the bread...:) Javon was there to eating his pancake by the bar counter.
Two hour delays are especially nice when we get to bed regular time the night before and we were up regular time this morning, which made for plenty of time to get ready. Jordan shot a big black bird from the window and Justin shot two of them to! Don't know when those black birds will learn we now have big boys with guns in the house!..:)
Because of the two hour school delay today Javon had no preschool and my Ladies Bible Study was also canceled. I didn't mind at all since my homework wasn't yet caught up from the last lesson and rushing out of the house this morning was just not appealing me for today. Instead I got to stay home with Javon. We made Dave a big lunch of beef, mashed potatoes, peas and corn and warm bread. He has been begging for mashed potatoes!! Since the boys can't have them I made him a bunch of mashed potato dishes to keep at the shop and I got rid of the evidence here at home!...:)
Javon and I also played tic tac toe...:) He won two, I won two... He is left handed.. we tried to correct him at first when we realized it but he just didn't take to it and I think it's cute...
This is how he writes his name...
Our week-end was relaxing. We put the Little's to bed Saturday night regular time then we watched a movie with the boys. "Gifted Hands" was what we watched. It's the story of Dr. Ben Carson. It was really worth watching and the timing was great to since the four of us have tickets to hear him speak on Friday night.
Sunday morning Dave and I did our usual Sunday morning two mile run through the winery. We had church services then after church Jordan made us lunch while Dave and I went to make a quick visit to one of the shop workers, he shot a large nail straight into his leg! Right behind the knee and the pain this guy went through before they got to his surgery was unbelievable!
Jordan's lunch hit the spot when we got back since it was well past lunchtime by now! Thanks Jordan!! He wasn't really impressed since I told him to make it with beef. He had a hard day again yesterday. Week-ends are out of routine for us so it makes for harder days for him. We have so much beef and I'm buying way to much other meat right now! Chicken, fish, pork chops are Jordan's favorites but then his food looks so yummy that the rest of the family eats it to, yet we have a freezer full of beef! I'm trying to work on it because my grocery bills are crazy this winter!
We are not going to the canned shelves very much this winter since Jordan can't eat any of it anyway! I will most likely be cutting back my canning this fall or else figure out a "Jordan Friendly" canning!
He is done with his cleanse pills!! He is thrilled!! We have not yet changed anything about his diet. I'm kind of scared to since it's going so well. He gained a pound when he got on the scale on Saturday but that's perfectly fine since this is not about weight anyway. I figured he'd soon start to regulate out more. He feels great!!:)
Last evening the youth had our Sunday evening service. They did amazing! A few testimony's were shared about how lives can be changed through Jesus, A few guys shared on a recent mission trip, Justin Smoker had a speech (great speaker!) then they did a very real "spiritual warfare skit" and also some singing. It was a packed house and I'm sure they were happy with that.
Jenika went to school today all in GREEN!! She had everything green on that she could think of! It's Saint Patricks Day today and since her teacher lived in Ireland for awhile this class celebrates this day more then some of the others...:) They had some fun activities planned and she couldn't wait to participate!...:)
This was my lunch today...
We use lots of oils, avocados, rice and greens!! I told Dave I'm sure this type of food is making me gain weight! I love the healthy style of food but these foods are also high in fat! I'm learning and tweaking. I can do without meat but when cooking for the guys meat has got to be a part of the dish!..:) baby steps are fine for me...:) I think It will also be better once I start running more and working in the yard and garden always helps burn those extra calories... "Bring on the Spring Planting!"
How can we help but get fat and lazy after the type of winter that we have had!??
Yesterday I made a fruit salsa of mango, pineapple, kiwi cut into tiny pieces then I ate it as a salsa on some rice crackers. It was yummy and I told Dave I'm saving the rest to go in with my lunch dish today. He goes "Hot??" I said "Yup" He sighed a bit and said "about the time I think I am adjusting and getting used to this healthy stuff you come out with something like this yet"!!...:) He loves it, he just don't know it yet...:)
My dish... grilled slaw mix, a bit of rice and then the fruit salsa, Heated all up and dumped on top of spinach and avocado. I must say it was unique but yummy great tasting!
I'm off to get the kiddo's at school....
THINK SPRING!!! #it'salmosthere!
