Beauty in the Water!!
What a perfect day it was for water sports fun!!
I watch my children on a day like today and I think to myself "This is way better then any day at school could ever be!" They are experiencing some breathtaking sights!
Today was a day with Tony on the water.
We left the village by boat at nine thirty this morning and went about twenty five minutes to Tony's Lobster houses. What these are are a few pieces of sheet metal down on the bottom of the ocean floor. The water is only about 8-10 feet deep and oh so crystal clear! The Lobsters are not trapped but they like to hide out in under the sheet metal. The guys go down to see if there are enough of lobsters there worth jumping off the boat for. If so they put on snorkel gear, grab a spear and jump overboard!
My guys are quit good at this by now! Javon just loves to float around and be the spotter! Someone dives down and kinda rattles the sheet metal and this makes the lobsters go running. Once on the run the snorkelers go after them with spears! Javon is out there with his face under water with his snorkel gear on and he is creating a rukus! He is trying to tell them "hurry they are getting away!" When I see him give that thumbs up I know that they got one speared!...:)
Today was a record breaker! 125 Lobsters!! Dave just kept diving over and over! Long after everyone else was played out and back on the boat he was still out there going at it! He called to the boat for more help and Jordan went back in to help him again!...:)
Jenika was so proud!!.. Her first very own lobster on a spear!! She came up just a smiling!!...
While lobster diving they saw an enormous sea turtle! This thing had a HUGE head! It kept swimming around the divers trying to figure out what was going on...:) He had a huge school of beautiful fish with him! I think these fish must feed off what he drops or stirs up!
Jordan is "Hands On!" He helps clean the lobsters and bait the fishing lines. He casts for the little ones. He watches very closely and is always positioned right next to the guy that cleans the fish!
After lobster diving we catch sardines for bait along the shore lines. Then we fish. We that don't fish just rock back and forth, chat and catch some sun... I'm still feeling that rocking...:/
This was his catch today!... He just loves this kind of stuff!!
Justin loves the water action and if the boat is moving he is fine but as we fish he lays there and tries real hard not to get sick!...:)
After fishing we go about twenty minutes to the beach... Here Tony cooks up veggies, beans, fish, lobster tails and he makes his own coleslaw on the spot to! He serves warm tortillas and the meal just hits the spot!! Especially to the guys that did all the work!! This really does take effort and they work up a huge appetite!
After lunch we go to "Shark Ray Alley" Here Tony feeds the sharks the scraps from cleaning the fish. They swim right around us and if you are brave you jump overboard and swim with them... :)
Here is Justin swimming with sharks...:)
After swimming with sharks we go to a great snorkel spot!! The kids just loved this!! They saw an eel, huge turtles, sting rays and lots of beautiful fish in big schools!! Many lovely coral with tunnels and the beauty is just beyond the imagination here!!
After this the sun is going down and everyone is cold and exhausted! We bundle the best we can for the boat ride back and the hot showers feel amazing!
These two do EVERYTHING together! I love this!! They like to be at the front of the boat when are cruising!...
These days on the water are always so great! This water sports stuff is really the reason many come to Belize!! The trips with Tony on the boat are always highlights of our trips! If you every come to Belize you DON'T want to miss this wonderful experience!!
The day was full and we are so tired! Everyone is tucked into bed....
We are thinking of you all at home as you are digging out!! The snow just looks amazing in pictures!! Tons of it!!
We are glad we are here...:) Tomorrow we are back to school and schedules once again... Week-ends are fun here but we like routine to...(at least mom does...:})
Good Night...
