The sewer guys continue to work on the sewer ditches one section at a time. The ditches get covered up as another section gets dug. This time they are closing up the area where the permanent driveway will be. It is exciting to see the progress as these crews work hard everyday to get this project to the opening stages!
It was a lovely day! A bit breezy but so warm and sunny! I went out to take pictures of some of the progress while the children were doing school...
This building is getting some attention these days... Some retail places including a salon will be going in here...
"Back of House" is well on the way... This will be maintenance supplies, laundry room and house keeping supplies go in here...
Lovely town homes!
Great House is getting so much attention to! The kitchen is out the back...
Permanent driveway going out towards the road... It's still not ready for use but it will be soon! This is where the sewer is being dug... going out to the road...
Lovely Great house...
Supplies get delivered one way or another!...:)
Our street is looking better... More lights are still coming on and the landscapers are busy along this street right now!
New buildings still going up... This is right across the canal from us and when the windows are open we can hear the hammers and drills!
Today this school kids did extra school hours to make up for yesterday. The snow days at home have us ahead of schedule but I want to keep it that way so when Jonathan's come we can slack a bit more. We are looking so forward to having them, Scott's and Eric's here! Dave assigned Justin to search out VRBO's and some other resorts to try to find them a place to stay. We hope it will be close to us. We wish they could stay here on sight but it's just not happening in that time frame. A few weeks make all the difference here.
Justin and I went out grocery shopping in town today while the school children were doing school. I'm so glad for him. Because of all the small stops it makes it unhandy to lug my bags with me everywhere. When Justin comes along I let him on the cart with the groceries as we stop from shop to shop. It works great and if he is patient I buy him a drink or something...:) Today it was a Popsicle...:)
I did some price comparison...:) It was interesting! Money gets away so fast here on the island. I will give you a few examples...:)
12 roll tolit paper... Our money is half of these prices... You figure out the price..:)
It is an island so everything has to be brought here by boat and by the time it gets here the price has been jacked up!
The people here are big on coleslaw and my family loves it so I make us our own. The other day I gave 17.00 Belize for a head of cabbage!! It went down hard but we are enjoying homemade coleslaw. Salsa is also something I make because the yummy homemade stuff here is just so expensive but by the time I buy the ingredients I wonder if I even save any money!..:) The beans, rice and tortillas are very cheap though and I can see why this is mostly what they eat. Then they fish... all the fresh seafood they could ever ask for!
When Tony takes us out and cooks us a yummy meal of fish and lobsters he often has a club sandwich packed for himself! He is so sick of seafood!... Hard to imagine but the fish is cheaper then chicken or beef here!
Giving you an idea how we are shopping..;) It will feel nice to go back to "Dutch-Way again and get all I need in one place but for now I'm really enjoying the experience here and if I look long enough I can find places where things are cheaper...;) I have learned to "follow the locals" If it's on the main street it's gonna cost more for sure..;)
Good night from the Zook family...
