This is how I word it when I do things that have been on the "To do list" but have been getting pushed aside because it looked big, (the hard/messy stuff) the weather has a lot to do with it to! I say I'm not a Spring and Fall house cleaner but it seems when the weather changes in those seasons it just brings extra cleaning power and energy along with it!
I'm also in the midst of this book, I try to put to practice what I read so I'm trying to make the most of the time God blesses me with...
Some really good points in this book, even though it is one of Dave's leadership books and refers maybe more to the business side of it... but I can take lots out it to! He reads the book then he lets me know if it would be a good one for me...If so I start on it but it always takes me longer then him because I still like my own "women" books in there to...:)
Rachel Ann was here today but her day was short. I had gotten so much done the past few days. I did lots of windows, cabinets and drawers. Moving furniture, my Norwex rags have been my best friend the past few days!:)
Dave is taking the older boys to a sportsman supper this evening (they cannot wait!) Sam is taking his oldest boys to so Marilyn and I plan to take the little ones out to the library and maybe get ice cream. We will be having one of Dave's "Summit" friends overnight so I have gotten Justin's room all cleaned up and prepared. Poor Justin knew when we moved him into the guest quarter part of the house that he would need to give up his room from time to time. He has always been okay with it but now that he is older it's getting harder I think...:)
The last quarter of school starts next week already!! I can hardly believe this! This will be a busy quarter with Field trips and the "History and Science Fair" going on! I told the boys I'd like to make the last quarter extra special... finish school strong! Get great grades, work hard! I told them they could take turns writing in a small tablet I gave them a "lunch menu" and write down what they want for lunch and a dessert to. Then I will choose a day that fits my schedule that week and deliver that lunch to them! Jordan has already written the first weeks menu down! Starting that next week!
I have gotten my juicer out again and plan to leave it on the counter! I juice more when it sets out! I juiced a few carrots, a few slices ginger, a lemon, a few beets this morning. I drank a glass and delivered the rest to Dave at the shop. It was the "Morning Energy" one on this photo... These are different juice recipes...
It's fun to research and find fun ways to eat better but the benefits of juicing seem endless so I'm excited to try it more... I have often juiced beets before a run but this photo popped up the other day and confirmed why? I'm excited for warmer days ahead and more miles on my running shoes...
And here is why we have been getting ginger into our diet wherever we can...
I have been finding that many issues and health problems can be solved through the foods we eat. I am not anti medical by no means and I believe God has given us great Doctors in the time we need them but in the past I have been one to go to the Doctor for every little thing and was often on medication! Jordan was another story and I believe we needed to take him every time we did but as I'm learning more I don't think I would be so quick to get those meds! Our bodies were created to heal themselves. It's just that they need the right nutrients to do that!
I grew up on the chubby side and have done countless diets in my day but I have found this to be the best advice yet! And it works for me!! I don't ever want to diet again in my life!!... Life style change is the key and here at our house it started with "Baby Steps" and we are still "Baby Stepping":)
When someone told me I cannot have something like sweets or bread or whatever the diet requires that is when I wanted it the most! I know it's a mind game, eating healthy can be a mind game also! I find it is hard and requires more effort, more trips to the store, more money because "Real Food" costs more unless we grow it ourselves which I hope to do soon...:) But in the end it's worth it and the body says "Thank-You!"
The coffee K-cup machine now has green tea beside it and the juicer is in the spot where the coffee holder was...:) I don't think the coffee is bad but it was becoming a "Must Have" for me and I don't appreciate that. Plus I always wanted something sweet with it! Even if it was just chocolate chips but it was becoming habit. I started everyday this week off with large amounts of water! It is hard for me to drink water before breakfast but I found if I start early I can get more in all day. I hardly get thirsty so drinking water comes hard for me but I think once a habit my body will crave it...? I'm hoping?
Why all the health stuff this month???
My mom had "Breast Cancer" six years ago and I'm now considered "High Risk" The Doctor wants me to start Mammograms at an early age because of it. I feel like if I seek prevention I can do my part. It also will be good for my family in the long run so I'm up for the challenge... Small steps is the key for me so far! I have much to learn and much room for growth!
As I was researching juicing I kept seeing this thing to juice called "Alma"? Google it and check out the amazing benefits!! (it's an Indian gooseberry!) I just think I have to get my hands on some right now!!:) Wegman's does not have it right now but maybe it's seasonal!? Those are things I want to start juicing and maybe eventually do away with my supplements and just get nutrition from "Real Food"! It will be awhile but it's kind of a dream of mine for the future...:)
More interesting true quotes to add for today...
I'm the type that thinks I need to get all these foods at once but then end up having them go bad before we eat them all...:/ I'm learning and doing better now...:) Just a balance is enough...:)
Have a blessed Friday... I love week-ends and it looks like a busy fun one!!:)
