Campfires, 10k and more...

I came in here to blog a few times and always walked away in hopes that my computer would fix itself and be fast again. It is so slow!! I never do like to be in here for to long so when the computer or often our Internet service is to slow I just leave and come back later to try another time, but this is backing up on me, so with Javon in school I'm going to try this again, slow or not:/ I'm just doing other stuff in between...:)

It was a very long, great week-end enjoying my family the past few days! We started our week-end off on Friday evening with a campfire party ~just us~ we had burgers and mountain pies over the fire for supper and coffee and a good book under a full moon! So lovely and peaceful it was for me as the rest of the crew headed to the basement to play electronic monopoly. The boys love when Dave plays this with them!

Our campfires on the back porch go on often. From the warming of Spring on into the colder Fall months we have a campfire often and randomly somebody gets it started... but the chilly breeze lately is a reminder that these days are coming to a close and we will so miss this!! Winter seems to go on forever here...:/

Dave had this "Business Conference" at Lancaster Bible College that he was taking a part of on Friday. He was moderating a panel on small businesses, Mostly Chinese people on his panel. His notes came through as Chinese and he even had an interpreter!  His panel came up right after a more government dependent panel and that panel was discussing ideas on "how the government can work together with business owners etc"  Like what can Government do for you??  Dave then got up to moderate his panel for discussion and he opens up his discussion by saying "I wonder what Entrepreneur and Small Business Owners would say about that panel discussion??"

He thinks they would most likely say "get out of the way and let well enough alone"

Anyway her are a few pictures of his day Friday... By the way I spent twenty minutes in front of the mirror ~by myself~  trying to figure out how to do up this tie! I think it looks great from the picture but I still don't think I did it right! Oh well I'm still Amish at heart...:)

Saturday was low key...:) Dave and I started out with a six mile run,  I did some baking and other odds and ends. Saturday evening we had more games of monopoly in the basement going and Dave and I snuck out for a short sushi date...:)

Sunday was our Sunday school day and a 10K in the afternoon.

Our Sunday school Sunday started out sad, with news that a member (still a member yet attending elsewhere) had passed away in his sleep. We had some sad moments with some singing and prayer before going into devotion and then to class. Sam and Sue had attended our church for years and it feels like we still know them. They have three children who loved there Daddy very much!

Sam was driving down the road on Saturday when he was amused by a big corn picker thingy or something in the field along the road. Two of the children were with him. He drove off the road not going real fast but he hit a pole. The children were fine but he must have slammed his head. He felt OK and didn't want to go to the hospital. Later that evening he said he had a headache but still said he was fine. He went to bed and never awoke! We are so sad for this families loss! Join us in prayer for Sam and Sue's families and the children as well!

Dave and I got the kids lunch but we skipped so we will be ready to run six miles. This was an absolute gorgeous day for this!!

It was a great run! I was leading the spot for the first woman to finish for the 10K.  The last mile I decided to run on the right side of the road. I don't like to always run on the left because my left leg gives issues to always be on the down side. Because of this I missed the arrow marking the road to turn in. I thought I knew where it was so I kept going and not even minding my business. I was ahead and could no longer see the last guys ahead of me so it took me an extra half mile before I realized my detour...:) I turned around and made it to the finish with energy left but it gave the first place spot for ladies to Sadie...:) She deserved it to! She was running ahead of me the whole way until I gave it more at the last mile mark where I passed her and another girl. I love running with Sadie! She keeps me on my toes because she is fast...:) It's great to be a runner on days like this...:)

We grilled steaks and had a great meal after the run. It was just relaxing and enjoying the kids with more games in the basement last night. We are ready for another week...

My new read...

This book is just as the name says and it has me thinking we are not near "Radical" enough for our Savior! I'm hoping to take many lessons from this book and apply them to my everyday life!

Today I had Sis Marilyn drop in for breakfast! I love that we live close and can be back and forth so much! She got a taste of my "Healthy" breakfast this morning...:) I made an egg mixture on a bed of mixed kale greens, tomato and avocado drizzled with balsamic and I think she must have liked it because she ate it...:) Her coffee did not get finished before she needed to leave but I sure enjoyed your drop in Marilyn!! If she wants to visit me mornings she waits along the road and when I go past her driveway after dropping the kids at school she makes sure I see her and stop to pick her up...:)

I'm off to work outside... Pulling flowers and more "prepare for winter stuff" It sure is to lovely to spend the day indoors! I'm so excited to finally say were are down to every three weeks Chiropractor appointments! After this week we will be going every third Monday instead of every Monday night! We in our family thinks this calls for a celebration of some kind!!

Speaking of celebration... We have a birthday girl in the house this week and she is counting the days!!

Have a Blessed Monday!!
