Brrr!! It has been so cold the past days!! Single digits COLD!!
We had a snowstorm!! I think almost a foot of snow fell here the other evening!!
We are enjoying the slower pace lifestyle that these types of snowstorms bring with them...:) It has been fun to have a snow day off of school, and even yesterday we had a two hour delay. It was sleeping in a bit longer for everybody the past days, reading more books, later breakfast, and just cuddling in blankets more then usual...:) I think one snow day is enough for this momma though~!....:) I spent yesterday afternoon pulling myself and this house back together...:)
I find soft air bullets and rubber bands EVERYWHERE!! I had to think as I was sweeping them up yesterday how this Summer I will wonder what we did inside all winter long...? But then I'll just remember the soft air bullets and rubber bands I was dealing with and that will have me remembering what we did to pass the winter time hours!!
We awoke yesterday morning to a whopping one degrees outside and our side porch door had blown open during the night!!! The house was thirty five degrees when Dave discovered it!! It must not have been closed properly from the kids being in and out the night before, then the wind picked up and blew it open!! Of all nights!! It took a bit to get the house warm again after that one and we had breakfast in our coats yesterday!...:) We did feel that it was a bit more chilly upstairs in our bedroom then usual to but I figured it's just because it was so cold outside!
We had goose for supper!!! We enjoyed goose and mashed potatoes last evening for supper...:) (Jordan had rice pasta with his and I just took a chance on him being allowed goose, since it wasn't listed on his chart:))
My guys so enjoyed a freezing cold, snowy goose hunt the other evening when it was coming down so hard!! Dutchy Dave had them up to call in, and then jump out at the geese as they were coming in upon the decoys looking for supper....
Jordan didn't get to shoot the gun but he came home all excited about what a blast it was!!...Jonathan and a few guys from the shop went along to... Here is the goose hunting crew with there kill!!
The goose cooking in the crock pot... We have some leftover plus some that we didn't cook yet!... I call it BLESSED with goose meat!...
After being in Belize and realizing that meat is rare for many third world countries and many people have meat only on a rare occasion, it makes me look at meat a bit different as I cook it these days. We eat meat with most meals without even giving it a thought, many are not so blessed!! Our steer that was grazing in the meadow all summer has also gone to the butcher for processing yesterday so we are about to stock up the freezer with beef to and here comes goose meat yet!!...:) God had truly BLESSED us!!
Last evening after filling up on goose and peanut butter crackers for dessert it was outside for some wintertime fun...
Dave helped the Little's into snowsuits and even though they were wearing each others snow pants I was grateful for his help because it seems I do this bundling up chore many times in a days time right now!...:) I never discourage them from going outside even though I know it most likely won't last real long. I think the fresh air is good for them even if it is just for a bit!...:)
Jenika was all set up for the sled behind the wheeler... Snow blew up in here face but she was protected pretty good...:) She came in with frosty eyebrows and lashes and bright red cheeks!!
Today is still cold and I think they are calling for a bit more snow this afternoon but the sun is shining now so perfectly and it makes my back yard so pretty!! Winter time is by far my least favorite season but I still do enjoy the slower pace lifestyle it brings and the four seasons that we have here in Pennsylvania are still great, each season has a way of bringing some sort of beauty that reflects back to the Maker of it all!!
I have started the cleaning process for the week. We have missions week at school this week and I plan to help with the Romanian hot lunch tomorrow, Javon has five big floor puzzles he is working on over and over again. he has them all lined up on the floor and puts them together one at a time...:) I'm off to clean while he's occupied...:) He sure enjoyed the kids time off of school. He asked this morning when they are going to have another two hour delay??!
I said Maybe tomorrow!!!:)
It's in the making to have guests tomorrow evening!! We love to gather with friends for fun fellowship when the snow is on the ground and the nights are so cold! Everything just seems more "Slow Paced" these days...:)
We found "Duck Eggs"!!! We hit the jackpot and got our hands on a place that will sell us duck eggs!! (8.50 a dozen!!) They are a bit low on them right now but we have two dozen here for now and it was great to make Jordan a more normal breakfast this morning. He had meat, onions a two duck eggs topped with re fried beans...:) He assembled his own lunch for today, I think the hardest part for him right now is the no sweets. He seems to be really craving a sweet all of the sudden but we did expect this and I believe it will get better in a few days. His skin is looking so much better and he just seems healthier all around!! We are feeling BLESSED!
