Dust or Mud Puddles??

Belize Today...

It was a gorgeous day here today!!

This is definitely the island life!

Everyday is so warm and sunny and pretty much gorgeous!

The wind is here the past few days though! The kite surfers and parasailers are enjoying it a lot but the water sports folks are probably getting a bit frustrated. The water is so choppy and the beaches are a mess with sea grass as water washes up on shore, (farther up then normal) and along with this comes some sea junk that will take extra clean-up.

Our schedule is the best here! We do school at nine and after school we have a snack and head out for fresh air! The beach it is on nice days and some days it's the park or just to town to explore! The big boys have bikes and bike pretty much anywhere anytime! We are out most afternoons from one o'clock to three thirty or so then we come back to make supper. Our evenings are long and we still go to bed early! FAMILY TIME AT IT'S BEST!

Today as I watched the kids on the beach I again said "Thank You Lord... For the opportunity to be in a place like this at this time of the year!!... Dave has work here and that is why we are here...:) He would be going crazy by now if he didn't have something to keep him busy! He comes to see us on the beach for a bit some days but he comes and goes according to what his schedule allows.

The tans the kids have look so healthy and adorable on them! We no longer worry about using any sunscreen...:)

The wind has really dried things out here. You will see the fruit market down the road pour water onto the street in the mornings to settle the dust. They are trying to keep there produce from getting dusty. We don't mind the dust as much as we did the mud puddles! The house gets dirty now as well but not near like it did when we had that rainy week! I think the rain might be moving our way tomorrow again but we hope it does not last long enough to create those huge mud puddles we had last time. When it rains here the street becomes a skid sliding mud hole!

It seems though they really made use of this last dry spell around here! They have packed in new dirt on the streets. They have dug and covered up lots of sewer pipes! We took a walk this evening and we are almost there now! The cleaning crew of four or six ladies scurries from unit to unit all day!

The village here does not have housekeeping yet but the staff is still kept very busy with cleaning and getting units ready for use! The only thing housekeeping does for us here in our unit is bring us water every few days. I wipe the floors and keep house just like at home, it doesn't take me near as long but I could do it ALL every single day! Construction dirt makes it way inside every time someone comes in from outside! But it's all good and I just look the other way many times...:) Sometimes I even brush the sand from my feet before I crawl into bed so I not bring sand into the sheets..:) It's part of it for now and it's okay..:)

The boys were so desperate for sweets tonight after supper that they biked out for a bag of chocolate chips and helped each other make brownies...:) Jordan is so good in the kitchen and he knew exactly what to do, he was so disturbed with Justin and it was so funny to watch them! The commotion was so bad that Dave and I thought it would be a great time to go out for our walk!

Just as we were leaving for our walk I heard glass shatter! I peaked my head back in and a glass had fell off the counter and onto the floor! When we got back the house smelled great and we now have brownies (they look terrible but we have some!) Oh well it might tame there sweet tooth for a day anyway!

Mark did a Face time with Jordan this evening and he made sure to show Jordan how he was eating a piece of homemade chocolate bark that Marilyn had made! Just like we make him back home and it's his favorite!! I heard him tell Mark..."You have the chocolate but we have the nice weather!" He said it was a tough one on which he would rather have at the moment!..;)

We are looking forward to family and friends next week!! Jonathan's, Scott's and Eric's arrive soon!! We can't wait!! Look what got sent to me today!! They are so CUTE!! They must be getting ready for warm weather!... I told Marilyn I hope they don't feel smothered by us when they arrive!!... We are looking forward to hanging out with you all!!

We had some great news for the crew that is coming!! The group that was going to be here over the same time that our guests come pushed there week back to March sometime! This means we can now house our guests here! The staff is not ready and we do tread softly but we are so glad that we can have a few units to give to our guests that are coming!! I was hoping Jonathan's would not have to stay far off sight since Jenika will want to be with Tina 24/7!...:) Now we don't need to find outside housing for the guests coming next week! Yay!!

We are invited to Super Bowl Party here on Sunday!! William is a friend of ours and his family invited us and Steve's family for a party. Bring a drink and your favorite finger food to share... I'm still trying to figure out what that is here in Belize!?? We really don't snack on anything here. Maybe I'll have to settle for those fried plantain or sweet potato chips!? A dip would be fun but making anything finger food does not sound as easy here in Belize! I sometimes just want to run to Dutch-Way and then make a finger food! Anything packaged here is so expensive and often tastes like it has traveled many days to get to that shelf!...:)

We love the "Real Food" here though!! The produce is great and we enjoyed a huge salad with grilled chicken for supper! The snacks are yogurt, oranges or chips and salsa most times. We are all hungry for our big breakfast and then an early supper but other then that we don't eat to much in between here. It is great to be drinking Kombucha! We brought our own big block of cheese but this is winding down and we will miss it once it's all gone!

The big boys so enjoy Mac from that works at Rum & Bean! When he is on evening shift they stay at the Bean until closing time which is around nine o'clock! He teaches them Belize culture stuff..:) He has a son Jordan's age and he brought him one day to meet Jordan. "Jordan said, Hey that is the guy that guy that was so good at corn hole last week!" Sure enough it was him. They gave my guys a really hard time in a game of corn hole!..:) He was here playing football with Jordan for a while that day.

School went well today. The children are finding the system and Jordan really enjoys the one on one! The Little ones miss there classroom more but they work well and are doing well. They do Bible Memory to me. They do P.E. pretty much every afternoon with swimming and running around on the beach! Jordan does hard runs every morning of the week but two and even though he still dose not really appreciate being woke up early for runs they are going better and he can now run almost the whole way without walking! It's about a two mile run if we walk the beach back. Sometimes we run the beach back to! But Jordan likes to take his time and look for anything that might be moving in the water on the walk back!..:)

Good Night from MBV in Belize...
